Default Did Met bring the belly down?

If you have a 'typical' PCOS belly, did it go down after you started Met?

Was it a combination of Met and exercise or exercise alone?

I'm curious. I won't be able to restart my exercise program (running, yoga and weights) until the end of August, so I was wondering if maybe the Met will get a "head start" on helping my body lose weight faster when I do.

I'm not sure. . .I lost more weight on BCPs than I have on Met, but I attribute that to the stricter diet/exercise regimen I used to have.

Met has helped me lose 20lbs since I started it about 14 months ago, but I still have a big fat belly

I'v ebeen on 100mg Met for two months & I have not noticed a difference. I think I need a higher dose & I know I need a better diet plan. Lately it's been so hot & we've been working so much that we tend to have sandwiches for dinner instead of a real meal.

No weight loss for me, been on it since the last week of April. I was really hoping this was finally the answer to why I don't lose weight, even when I'm being "good".

I hope you have better results! Seems to be different for everyone.

No weight loss for me either....although I wasn't going to the gym in the beginning (started met end of June) because I felt so unmotivated since it hadn't been doing me any good. Now I'm back at it for another try - I know met isn't the magic diet pill, but still, I was hoping for better results than this!

Red face This is my third month on Metformin

So like I said this is my Third month on Metformin. The doctor said I could lose some weight and I have! Ten pounds! It isn't much and I don't even know where I lost it because my pants don't fit any better. I am very happy about the weight loss though, I will be happy with any weight I loose. I haven't changed my diet or anything, so this is great for me. Good luck to you all.

I lost about 70 lbs on Met over the course of 5 months.. But Met makes me so damn sick that it's not much of a surprise. I honestly believe the weight loss was more because I threw up everything I ate then because of the drug itself.

Well met does affects us differently. For me it was a great help in re-shaping my apple shaped body and loosing my belly fat. I did make a great effort in the exericse department and started running along with the met. So, the combo for me gave me great results! Good luck!

I have only been on Metformin for 6 days and lost 6 pounds already. I do not have any symptoms of Met except for the fact that I am constipated and I do eat less (for some reason I feel fuller faster).

I havent started exercising yet, but since fall is coming along I will go for long walks with my daughter.

I have noticed my belly going down- yesterday in particular I noticed how much smaller my belly was. I'm hoping my doc will increase my dosage (I'm on 1000mg) when I go see her in September. I too feel fuller faster, but I still need to fix my eating a little more.

Yes definitely. I always had a belly that was one size bigger than the rest of me! No sooner did I start met and the low GI diet I noticed a definite flattening of the tummy. Since then it's pooched out because I got pregnant right away on it! Not sure if it matters but my main PCOS symptoms were irregular annovulation, high testosterone, excess hair in weird places and hair on head fell out a lot.
