Default Did met help you if you don't get af?

I get no af's w/out provera. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and did Metformin help you? Thanks Ladies!

ME TOO! No af - unless I have the joy of taking artificial hormones - I hate it! LOL

Metformin did not help unfortunatly.

I am actually seeing my doc tomorrow cause I do not want to be on bcp, or progesterone or anything, I want to find the route cause of why I don't ovulate, is it insulin resistance, or pituitary, etc, kwim?

Default Me too!

Same for me. I've only had a handful of periods over the past three years. ALL of them have been because of Provera or BCP. Met hasn't helped. We've been TTC for more than three years. Sucks, no AF no ovulation. One think though, just because you get AF it DOESN'T mean you've ovulated.

I've started excercising so I'm hoping just working out with help regulate my cycle.

yes it did help me but I had to find the right dose and take it continuously for about 7 months to start getting regular cycles

Okay ladies - same boat here - so what is going on with us? No AF on or off Met for me and I've been on/off met (max 14 mos and max 2000mg) like 4 times in 5 years. I've always stopped because Met gives me daily life-stopping headaches. Only AF has come from Provera yet every doc seems to think putting me back on Met will bring on AF...... and current doc is now putting me on for 2nd time... thinking the same thing... even though it didn't work the first time........ I can't even get acup & 1500mg Met to bring on AF yet but going down this path 4 more months to see. Hubby and I just decided we want to TTC more seriously too (even though we basically have been for 3.5 years with no luck). I'm charting and contemplating doing the cervix location logging crap to see if I can ever confirm I ever ovulate. I'm betting no.

kellie - were you having any cycles before starting met? Seriously, I have proven I can go 3 years off Met or any drugs and never get a cycle. Not willing to do that again for whatever health risks I might be increasing with that. I see you got your #1 on just met - AWESOME! So trying the same to get #2?

I'm a thin cyster and I've been on met for almost 8 weeks now, and still no AF. Actually, I don't see any of my symptoms improving--I'm still getting pimples, and I'm still hairy. Does it take this long to work--or does my lack of response so far show that met just won't work for me at all?

Thanks everyone for responding. I think I'll try a new question about Vitex helping PCOS'ers get their cycles. Did any of you give Vitex a try?

Hello,

I needed Provera to kick start my AF after going a year without... after that I was put on Metformin. I do now get AF, but I'm not sure if i'm actually ovulating (GRRR). Maybe it isn't working because of level of dosage? I'm wondering the same thing for myself...
