Default Did the OB/GYN or physican prescribe Met?

Hello all,

I've been suffering with extremely painful, heavy periods for the last year, then when we started TTC, I went to the OB/GYN for a physical. She felt a fibroid; yet when I went for the u/s, it was a 9cm cyst on my right ovary (ANd a fibroid). My other symptoms were hair loss, hair growth on chin, arms, back etc. At that time I thought it was cortisone shots for Keloids.

The cyst was removed, and the doctor told me it was PCOS. She prescribed Glucophage, and it was only by coming to this website that I learned how to take this medicine the right way.

My question is: are there other tests that I should be taking to confirm this? Should I go to my GP? I feel like I started this blindly, and am curious as to how did you all find out, or confirm this diagnosis?

Thank you all.

My ob/gyn prescribed the met for me, but the nurse practioner I see ( I like her better than my internist) said that if the ob didn't she would. I was diagnosed by a previous ob only after having a cyst burst and ending up in the ER. I have regular lipid panels and liver function tests done 2x year. I've been having that done since I started taking niacin for my cholesterol. I'm wondering whether or not to request a glucose test as well as hormone levels. Not sure if I'm IR or not but the met seems to help.
Hope this is somewhat helpful.
