Default Did Provera make you sick?

Hello everyone!

My doctor just put me on Provera to stop my period. (I've had one non-stop since mid February!) After I stop I'm to wait about a month or so and if I haven't started again on my own I'm to take another round of it to start again. Then I'm to begin Clomid since my husband and I have been TTC for quite some time now.

Did Provera make any of you sick? And if so, were the symptoms short-lived? I took it before going to bed last night and woke up in the middle of the night with really bad nausea and stomach cramping. My stomach still hurts this morning (though not as bad). I'm worried about taking another dose tonight but I know I have to finally stop this cycle I'm on.

Thanks for your help!
Natalie

I don't know if you're still looking for input...
but here you go in case you are.

First, let me explain that I took Provera after missing AF for six months. That being said, I wasn't sick BUT my cramping was so intense that I kept doubling over in pain and had to change my tampon or my pad every hour. So.... Mine was really bad because I went so long without AF, and my lining had built up really bad.

Cramping can be normal though because many people say that Provera is like a chemical D&C... it really cleans you out.

I am taking it to stop my period as well (6months straight of bleeding). Yes it made me sick. I never have pms or cramps, but when i started provera it was awful. Cramps, headaches, moodiness, bloating, hunger, breast tenderness. I have to say at about day 7 everything had subsided. I think there is a adjustment period

Thank you both for your input, it helped!

My stomach has still been hurting a bit but not nearly as bad (I've been trying to take it with food and I think that has helped).

Qiana: how long did it take to stop your cycle? I'm taking my 8th pill out of 10 tonight and it still hasn't stopped!

Have a good day!

Actually i think i got lucky lol. I started with 10mg 2 times a day for 10 days then been on 1 a day til my 4/15 ultrasound. The 1st pill my flow reduced to extremely light (only there when i wiped). The 2nd pill later that nite and the flow was completely gone. I have had a tiny bit of spotting, especially when i have to upset stomach from the met but other then that nothing. I have been cramping slightly, but nothing too bad.
