Did Satan invent PCOS? Warning: long and may offend some people
I hope this topic does not offend some people, and I don't mean to sound like miss know it all, but this is just my theory about how PCOS first came about.
I know disease and other bad things in the world are the result of sin, but I have a creepy feeling that PCOS is something more.
Here is a list, in a nutshell, of all the good things God made about women to make us desirable. I forget exactly what verse this was, but the Bible says that woman was made for man.
This is a list of all the desirable things about women since the beginning of time, before the media, before royalty, before wealth.
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
Lustrous hair, our crowning glory.
Smooth skin.
Graceful figure
firm breasts. Not too big, not too small.
A waist that is smaller the the hips, whether the tummy is round or flat.
PERSONALITY
Intelligent
hard worker
poised
Remembers thing people tell them
Submits to her husband and gets along with him, whether docile or outspoken
OTHER
sex drive
fertile
PCOS tries to destroy everything beautiful and useful that is appreciated in women.
Acne, dark, course facial and body hair, and nigrogans on the back of the neck affect the smooth skin.
DHT affects the crowning glory
Insulin resistance affects the gaceful figure. If you are like me and have all the fat in your stomach, it is hard to look and act graceful.
Something about this causes us to have trouble concentrating and remembering things, so to some people our intelligence seems to be affected.
It is common for PCOSers to either have really small breasts, or really huge ones.
fatigue which makes it hard for some of us to work a lot or exercise.
Some of us have problems with sex drive
Mood swings. So much for gentle temperance.
And maybe the reason we all have different symptoms of it is because Satan wants each and every individual woman who has it to feel that theirs is the worst case.
Lucifer was the most beautiful of all the angels, and he was prideful and jealous. Then he temped Eve in the Garden of Eden. Adam and Eve got off easier with lighter punishments. Eve got pain with childbearing, and Adam had to work harder.
But Satan did not get pardoned, in addition to him being upset that he did not get God's throne. So here is either one of three things
Satan was jealous of Adam because God gave him dominion of the earth, and had a beautiful companion to help him, so maybe he cursed some women's ovaries out of anger and spite.
Like he was thinking, "Man's delight huh? Well lets see how some men like it when their wive's natural resources are cut off."
Or, he felt threatened of the beauty of the first generations of women, and at the same time was upset that Eve got a lighter punishment, so he cursed the ovaries of the women he felt threatened by. I have looked at the pictures of the women here at Soul Cysters and I notice all of us have really beautiful faces and bodies in spite of our symptoms.
I know childbearing pains are terrible, but still that is nothing compared with having God not pardon you and living the next several thousand years knowing that your days are numbered.
What do you all think of this theory?
well.... i personally do not believe that satan gives women pcos..nor do i think god gives or takes away pcos... but that is my personal belief. i personally do not believe that women were made for men either, nor do i believe in original sin. so, since my beliefs differ its very hard for me to prove or disprove this theory.
all i know is pcos sucks big time.........
where did you get that list of things that make women desirable since the beginning of time???
i do know for a fact that what one culture finds "beautiful" about women is different than another..so i suppose its hard to make a master list of what makes a woman a WOMAN.

I also believe what one person calls "beautiful" another might call "ugly". Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

I know. You guys are right. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and that is what I personally agree with but I was just listing what the world thinks about beauty. My theory might not be accurate, for all I know. It's just a thought. I get theories about a lot of things. If I don't know what causes something, I like to try to think how it may have happened.
And you know what? There is absolutely nothing wrong with that either! It's a good way to get the brain thinking and working!
I personally don't believe in Satan as a master evil, nor do I believe in sin. I do believe in wrong and right and I do believe in the "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" ...
I think that however one thinks about the Divine, that the Divine doesn't give us what we can't handle.
There is no reason to give Satan credit for man's sin leading to death and sickness in the world. God couldn't have been more straightfoward about who's fault it is.
I don't think Satan can control PCOS, genes or our health. Only in the case of Job (if I remember correctly) do we find God allowing Satan the ability to make a man physicaly sick. There is no reason to believe this is a common thing, or the BIble would't have made such a big deal about it with Job, it would have been common.
I saw a documentary on the idea of ideal female beauty and infants.
"Langlois, who had joined the faculty at the University of Texas at Austin, devised a series of experiments. In one, she had adults rate photos of human faces on a spectrum from attractive to unattractive. Then she projected pairs of high- and low-rated faces in front of 6-month-old infants. "The result was straightforward and unambiguous," she declares. "The babies looked longer at the attractive faces, regardless of the gender, race, or age of the face." Studies with babies as young as 2 months old yielded similar results. "At 2 months, these babies hadn't been reading Vogue magazine," Langlois observes dryly."
It seems that one study concluded that babies are attracted to a certain type of face. Another study said that babies and adults prefer "average" faces and call them beautiful, but don't say why researchers would call "average" the faces others called "attractive."
The world works in mysterious ways much of the time, I don't think it's possible to figure out ever little detail, because if you did, what would life be living for?
Well, I'm a Christian, and I do believe that Satan can cause chaos in our lives. I also believe in generational curses. Thus PCOS is said to be hereditary, so I believe it's a possibility. I do believe in sin and I do believe that God can heal today.
Beauty, yes, is in the eye of the beholder. However we live in the world and in the world, where a lot is based on looks/physical beauty. Look at some of these posts in this forum. Look how you see yourself sometimes due to PCOS and how it affects you. I know I can feel very ugly--not only on the outside, but on the inside as well. It can cause us to slide into a major depression. I believe when you're depressed, you're looking through the natural and not the spiritual and thus being led away from God.
Oooh I seem to be jumping in on religious threads today when I normally avoid them
Well - I don't believe in Satan and I have PCOS so I don't think he could have caused it!
But you know it's a sign of the times that PCOS is a problem now. In cavemen times it actually gave us advantages over other women and made men more likely to want to mate with us.
Apparently when food was scarce other women's bodyfat levels went so low that they couldn't ovulate - we have the gene that meant we could still ovulate even when food was scarce because our bodies could survive on lower amounts of food than other womens. We were also stronger (see now those testosterone levels have been useful for something in the past)!!!
Men wanted to mate with us because of these things. We were, in those times, the priveleged few!
Most of us now live in a time where food is not scarce and is, in fact, plentiful. The gene that we have to survive on lower amounts of food than anyone else has come around to bite us in the bum!

I have quite a hard time accepting the notion of satan sitting around in hell snickering about my being sick. I also don't see myself as cursed or damned to eternal hellfire. I believe that every single nook and cranny of my complex life was created by God and that He made no mistakes. In each challenge lies a lesson, in each heartache there is redemption, and in each failure there is triumph. I don't see the plights of handicapped and disabled people as curses of satan either. They too, have their unique purpose.

Hmmm...interesting. But, I dont think anyone could have sinned enough to deserve any disease. I think its all in the genes and it all has to do with science, not eeeevil. Just an opinion.
Peaches: I loved what you said. It made total sense.
