I am a thin cyster and I too have been told by a couple of nurses that I was too thin to have PCOS, although I did start gaining weight when my symptoms started to appear. I had some hair growth and very mild acne when I was younger, but never anything like this. As a matter of fact, I have always had a period, my cycle is long, but I do get af pretty much every month. I got pg with ds first try, pg the second time first try then miscarried, then ALL of my problems started. Acne very very bad, hair growth increased dramatically, started getting tummy fat, which I NEVER had before, and had fertility issues until I started met. I even noticed my blood sugar bottoming out sometimes after eating. So when I was telling my doc this, he said that it's a lifelong disease, and sort of acted like I had the symptoms all along and I just didn't know it. Maybe it was my lifestyle changes after having my son. I was a dancer before that so I got lots of exercise. I don't know but I was wondering if there were others who did not always have symptoms.

My symptoms as a thin cyster...regular periods evrey month
I am very new to PCOS. I have not posted my first message yet...so here goes nothing.
I too am a Thin Cyster. I am 5'7" 125-128 pounds. I use to be 118-123 I have gained 5 pounds in the last 2 or so years. My periods have always always been regular 29-31 days cycle lasting for 5 days of menstruation. I noticed acne (tiny tiny spots) on my chest many years ago, but got use to them and frankly they were so tiny I didn't know what they where. Other than that, that is it for me. Last October was a wonky period for the first time in my life. I was spotting for 2 weeks then had a regular period right after. That never happened again, but I did ask my doctor who made nothing out of it.
My doc did not diagnose me despite an Ultrasound showing my 2 ovaries buldging at the same time. She figured because we were looking for something else and the technician speculated PCOS but said it was inconclusive she figured there was nothing to worry about. She then went on to tell me that I have a period and am thin so I wouldn't fit the mold. I wish I pushed harder becayse perhaps I would be further down the path of trying for a baby then just 1 week.
My RE says that treating thin cysters can be more difficult...we'll have to see.
Hi, I'm also new to all this. But hopefully I can help.
I've always been about every 12 weeks or so with my period (always very heavy, always very painful), had mild acne, and a little hair on my upper lip. Then I started brithcontrol (the Patch). All the symptoms cleared up. My DH and I decided to TTC in April. The acne came back but 10 times worse, more hair showed up, I had pain in my abdomin, and I had no AF for 6 months. I was diagnosed after lots of blood tests, a US (my overies are covered with cysts), and a review of my medical history.
So I guess you can say I always experienced symptoms, but it wasn't until I got off of birthcontrol when I really noticed or any of my doctors thought of PCOS.
Hope that's helpful...

I was always an athlete, was just 5'1'' and 98 pounds when I got married three years ago. I always thought my periods were irregular because of how active I was. It wasn't until I went off my birth control earlier this year that my skin went crazy and I gained 15 pounds almost overnight. My specialist put me right back on the pill and things are starting to even out again.
Yeah, I'm one of these thin cysters. I'm 128 lbs and at 5'5. I get a lot more symptoms more now than i did before. I have acne that I'm trying to beat, my period is all so irregular and whacked up so my gyn put me on BC. Now I have to ask her if I need to go on metaformin, etc. Well, Welcome you all!
I've always been thin (5'6" 110-115) and my periods have ALWAYS been irregular. Got my first at 16, then every 6 months, then they just stopped when I was 18. I didn't get another one on my own for 2.5 years (I did do the Provera induced ones). Then it was another 1.5 years, and so on. The hairiness crept up on me starting from HS (I am 27). It isn't awful, but it is way more than "normal." I went on the pill at 24 and it got better but got way worse when I went off last year. I don't have any of the other symptoms, I rarely get a pimple.
I have had irregular periods all my life. Got my first visit from AF when I was 11 and have never had a normal natural cycle until this day.
During my puberty I had some acne which disappeared when I was 15 or so.
Besides my messed up cycles I don't have any symptoms.

I've always been a thin cyster as well. The only symptom I've always had was absent periods since I was 17. I found out I had PCOS when I was 24. But didn't notice other symptoms like hair, mild acne, ect until about 2 years ago. It's like it was all of a sudden.
I have always had blood sugar problems, but I'm not diabetic or IR.
I was on the pill when I was younger to have periods, but never again. Then I started taking Metformin. And loved it. It helped my symptoms all the way around.
Good luck to all of you.

I am a thin cyster 5'4 125 lbs. I have had acne from 11 yearsold until present (21!) Sometimes it is really bad other times my face is ALMOST clear...I always have at least 5 little pimples on my face. Around 17 I started noticing some excess hair and at 19 it got wayyyy worse almost over night. AF has always been fairly regular-longer cycles 28-35 days with the ocassional fluke, when I was 17 I skipped AF for almost 3 months!
I'm 5'6- 118lbs and have never had a regular period. I had really bad acne when I was 13-15 and have always had troubles keeping my skin clear... and I'm 26! I actually didn't notice the hair until about 3 years ago, and again it seemed to come over-night.
Everything changed when I started taking met and spiro- but the combo didn't work for me because I started getting AF every 2 weeks. Now I just take the met and I love it!!
