Question did you go from hypo to hyper when pregnant???

Hey everyone I'm up yet again. This makes several weeks now that I'm up at night. I am 22 weeks pregnant and have asked my docs to check my TSH. I have Hashi's and have been on 112mcg of levoxyl successfully now for many months. However, did anyone ever go hyper during pregnancy. I can find info on the internet that suggests you will get more hypo but I"ve had complaints of increased heart rate for nearly 5 weeks now. My OB/GYN didn't take it seriously when imy heart rate measured 112 in his office resting. I told him all of a sudden it will get as high as 130 to 150 even when I haven't done anything to initiate it. Often times this happens even midday usually just after eating or at night when I'm sleeping. I'm a nurse I know how to check my pulse but he acted like I was exaggerating. Now I woke up tonight my heart pounding at 134 when I should've been sound asleep - it's 1 o'clock am here - HELLO. Why doesn't anyone take it seriously. I have had heart surgery as a child so I even called my cardiologist who refused to see me but ordered a holter monitor for 48 hours. Of course I only had like one episode while I was wearing it - but he said that the increased heart rate was NOT CARDIAC RELATED - gee thanks how about telling me what it is.

Due to my hashis I've been cold most of the pregnancy - but the last 3 nights I have awoken in a sweat. One night I took my basal body temp and it was 97.6 (the lowest it has measured since pregnancy, then the next night 98.2, and tonight 98.7) I'm concerned I may go into premature labor - can anyone tell me if they had any similar troubles. Also there is a ton of diabetes in my family and I have insulin resistance and I am concerned about gestational diabetes - anyone else have similar experiences and it was gestational DM??

Thanks,

I am currently 26 weeks pg, and I have hypothyroidism, I started having heart palpations and Freezing to death, I had to constantly have a coat on in the house with the heater on at 73,this started at about 3 mths along, I told my dr, I knew I needed my thryoid meds raised, I was taking 1.25mcg one day and 1.50mcg the next day I alternate and it keeps me stable, I have since being pregnant had it raised once already I am now taking 1.50mcg one day and 1.75mcg the next day and alternating, I have not had anymore heart palpations, I always know when my heart is beating irregular that my thryoid is too high, thank god my dr listens to me, that is part of pregnancy the part about getting TSH checked at every drs visit and raising meds as nessicary!! I never became Hyper during pregnancy, this is my second pregnancy since I was DX as being Hypothryoid I also have IR real bad and am currently taking 2000mg of glucophage XR as I did in my previous pregnancy which produced a wonderful, beautiful, very smart little 20 month old girl. I did however at the end of my pregnancy with DD end up with my dose being raised to 200mcg, after she was born I kept taking that dose and became Hyper, We stopped all meds for two weeks did another TSH and started me on a low dose after she was born, and like I said I alternate two different doses and that seems to keep me in a normal range, up until then it was about 3 yrs when I just felt like crap!! I Hoped this helped please don't hesitate to PM or email me if you have any questions you think I can answer, I wish you a Very Happy and healthy 9 months and Hope that your dr listens to you soon, or I would be finding another dr it is YOUR body and YOUR money, he is working for YOU not the other way around!!!

Strangely enough, heart palps and so forth can also be caused by being HYPO. So definitely get your thyroid checked. Your doctor should be doing it routinely anyway. Trouble sleeping, insomnia, is definitely also a hypo symptom.

Pregnancy also causes issues with the heart and with sleeping. I literally felt wired my whole pregnancy, could barely sleep at all during most of it, and my heart did flips and flops all the time. I was not, however, hyper!

Thanks everyone

The doc agreed to check my levels next week but seems just fine with not having checked it since I was like 7 weeks pregnant. I had asked them once before to checki it but he said no. I don't know I've read they should check it every 4 to 6 weeks because the demand for thyroid meds usually goes up during pregnancy. Thanks for all your input and I guess we'll see what it is.
