I have been taking Metformin for 2 months now. I'm on 2000mg a day. I have noticed that I don't have the discoloration on my elbows or on my upper lip. Which I am excited about. But, I haven't lose any weight since taking it. I thought I might drop a few lbs. I was hoping for about 20, but only 2 pounds I guess. I was wondering what you also did while taking Met. Maybe I need to workout more. If you could let me know what you did in would be great. Thank you.

I've been on it for 5 months, and no such weight loss for me. I'd heard all kinds of stories about 50 lbs just falling off and I was so ready for that...
My new dr. told me a low carb diet would help with that, since PCOS deals with the whole insulin resistance thing. Good luck, and let me know if you find anything that really works!

Met isn't a weight loss drug, but it can provide an 'edge' to you weight loss efforts. Your best bet is a calorie controlled diet and 300min+ dedicated exercise each week.

I know it's not a weight loss drug. I am curious to find out other people's experiences that have taken Met. I didn't expect to lose weight just with Met alone. I do exercise an hour a day 6 days a week and watch what I eat.

I have been on metformin 500mg for a month and my doctor told me the weight watchers diet would be good for me to do, along with exercising three days or more a week to help the metformin speed up my metabolism. It was hard for me to get myself dedicated to the diet but last week I did what he told me and lost a little over 5 pounds. Hope that helps you out!!! Good luck!!!!
I have been taking Met for only a month, but I know what you mean about not dropping weight like everyone else here. Some people report dropping 10 pounds the first week and so forth. I have only dropped 5 pounds the entire month, if that much. I guess it depends on the individual. But then again, I am not exercising and I haven't really changed my diet because I wasn't eating unhealthy to begin with. I think doing no carb/low carb can be a little dangerous when taking a glucose-lowering med like Met, considering it may cause hypoglycemia. But again, it all depends on the individual and their glucose levels.

I've been on Metformin for 2 years and I've lost 30 pounds...(then gained back a couple lately...). I think that I'll try switching over to the GI diet and see what happens..
I have been on Met since July of this year and I was on 1000 mg a day. I just cut out a lot of foods and I have been halfway exercising which I think has helped a little because I went to the doctor Tuesday and I had lost 10lbs which is good but I would like for it to be more! So he upped my dose to 2000 mg a day so hopefully I can lose a lot more and do better!

I know its not a weight loss drug but it does work for a lot of people. I did lose weight very fast once I hit 1500mg. I have lost a total of 32lbs since late Feb this year. I normally do work out but I had got so frustrated that I wasnt losing I stopped going. So once I got the Met and realized I was losing and not going to the gym I totally slacked. I know everyone is diff but yes I did lose weight and it has not come back.. The one thing I did diff well had to other wise I would live in the bathroom..LOL I cut out all fast food, and tried to cut back on soda. But nothing really extreme, I am now up to 2000mg and back to the gym and am now losing inches but no more weight yet...
Good Luck, I hope it does work out for you !

I lost 4 1/2 pounds the first week I was on it and in the 4 weeks I have been on it I have lost a total of 10 pounds. I am no longer hungry all the time and don't crave sweets any more. I would have probably lost more but I have not been sticking to my workouts or diet. I am also on clomid which I have heard makes some women gain weight.

I lost about 15 pounds in the 4 weeks that I have been taking metformin XR (1500 mg/day). I stick to a sugar busters type diet to avoid the common side effects of metformin. I find that I have to eat a lot more now than I did before, but the weight is falling off quickly.
I hope that met gives you all the benefits that you desire.
Thanks everyone for your input. I really appreciate it. Hopfully in the future, I will be able to drop a few more pounds. It is just so frustrating to read all the people who have taken Met and lost weight. Thanks again.

I'm on 2000mg and I haven't lost weight. Maybe it all depends of how heavy a person is? People who are heavy usually lose more weight initially than people who don't have as much to lose.
