i'm also fairly thin (5'8" and just 62 kg - don't know what that is in pounds).
my doctor originally said i didn't have pcos because i was overweight but i was sure i did! so we did the tests and i went to a specialist - sure enough, he diagnosed me.
he said that although obesity is one of the more common symptoms of pcos, it is certainly not a defining feature, and that many cysters never struggle with weight.
i've never really exercised too much - although i've recently started yoga, we'll see how that goes! it's fun!
i have however been trying to stick to a low carb/low-GI diet.
a low GI-diet is supposed to be a healthy diet generally, whether or not you have any particular medical/dietary probs. so i figure if i eat low GI foods it certainly won't hurt, and may help increase my general health in other ways.
because i don't struggle with weight i don't follow the diet religiously - i just use it as a general guide, but still snack on sugary things occassionally. i have cut out altogether certain foods like potato though.
and in two months i lost 6 kg (used to be 68kg) - not that i needed to really, but it was a nice bonus. i was thin before, but now i'm just that bit more shapely. my weight has now stopped fluctuating and generally do feel better all over :-) |
