I too have the IR diet book. I find it great! It is very informative and it's very easy to grasp. They explain all the reasons why you are linking and balancing, and also a quiz to see if you have the grasp of it! I tried it before Thanksgiving and the weight was coming off! Then thanksgiving came and I did just that! Gave in!! Now I am back on track, and going to start journaling. Is there a message board group for those who are doing the IR diet here?

Default IR Book ?

I had the same problem Jewwell. I lost 7 pounds using it before Thanksgiving and now I have to re-lose those pounds again. I thought the IR diet was great.

My question is - I sent away for the Foods by Chance or by Choice from the back of the IR book a long time ago. Has anyone else asked for one and received it? Do they really send one to you? I was hoping for more guidance from it.

Thanks!

Thanks for the info. I found the first book on your list at a store called Hastings here in TX. I looked at wal-mart for one but was unable to find it. Good luck ladies.

Default IR book--and questions

I got the book from Walmart.com for $9 + shipping--like $12 and some cents total. It arrived in 3 days, not bad I thought.

I do have some questions though. I've read through the book a couple times and can't seem to comprehend and am hoping someone out there can help me out.

How do you know what your daily allotment of food should be? Like how do I know if I'm eating too much or not enough?

I'm also confused on the raw apple---I first read that it and grapefruit do not need to be linked....but then under the snacks I see lowfat cheese and an apple??

I am just coming off of Atkins and have been on it since June with practically no weight loss----so I'm kind of lost on the amount of fat we are allowed to have. I've just started IR this morning and can tell a difference in being hungry between meals because there doesn't seem to be enough fat in this program.

Am I just doing something wrong?? I'd really like some help so that I don't go on doing this wrong.

I'd appreciate any response.

Thanks!

Default AnnJ & TRW IR diet

Hey, AnnJ, what did you think of that little book? I checked out the IR diet book from the local library to see if it was worth buying (it was, I ordered it today), but am wondering what is in the free booklet? Was it worth the wait and a stamp? Is there anywhere on this site that has a IR diet link/balance testimonial thread? I would love to read it as I have no support from anyone. Those testimonials on barnes and noble are what made me decide to check the book out and start the diet.

TRW, I've just read a newly revamped estimate of what daily intake of fats should be and it said between 25 and 30% of daily intake. These of course are supposed to be 'good' fats. I've read a lot about how good fats work in the body and they are essential to weightloss and health. My scrawny sister ate butter like it was ice cream and we all said "You're gonna get fat!". Nope, turns out it was probably the CLA in the butter that kept her slim.

I was on the Zone diet and it had me eating more of everything than I had ever eaten before. Especially fat. I didn't lose much 'weight' but got my waist back and was more solid. It took forever and I couldn't afford to eat like that so had to stop.

I look forward to some success with the IR diet, but I sure would like some testimonials so I can feel positive about it all.

Default Glucose Rev for PCOS

Hello!

I recently bought The Glocose Revolution for PCOS and didn't find it to have any new info or insight into PCOS. If you already know about the GI, then don't bother. Or, just buy the pocket book of top GI foods. (Or look online for GI values and print it out.)

I saw that there are a lot of Glucose Rev books out there. I think the first half of the book addresses the issue in the title, and the rest is the same GI info.

The book is only $10 or so, but as I said, not much in terms of anything new.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info! I went to the Amazon site and bought the IR book along with the PCOS book. Both look great and will be the first useful source of information I have gotten aside from this site (which is the reason I learned about the book of course). Kat...what can I say...I luv u girl!

To all of my Soul Cysters....have a peaceful and joyous holiday

Question IR Diet Website (HELP?)

I managed to get a copy of the IR Diet book from my library but was only allowed to keep it for 5 days (they borrowed it from another library for me).
I copied all of the information I needed as far as the diet plan...but in the back of the book, maybe in the last chapter, they listed a website for more information on recipes and such.
Can someone who has the book look in it and share that website? It would be greatly appreciated since it would take an act of congress for me to get the book from the library again.
Thanks...Luna

Yep, no problem. Sorry for typos, simply cut and paste it and correct it in a word file before printing folks. The lady is proactive, but a lousy typist.
