... and so happy to have stumbled across this posting! Prior to my PCOS diagnosis, my PCP told me to go under 1500 calories to lose weight. I counted for a week and I was already under 1000 without even dieting! I've tried nearly every diet out there, so I'm excited about trying one that specially designed for me! Thanks for the info!
I am a new member and i was just wondering if you found something that work? In my case no matter how much i exercise and how little i eat i still manage to gain weight. let me know if you find something that works.

Thanks for posting this. I was diagnosed earlier this year with PCOS and have lost only 20 lbs. since this time. I've made a diet change and exercise
5-6 days a week but still struggle with the weight loss. My fiancee tells me to eat less move more but I think being IR this isn't so easy to do.
My endrocrinologist wasn't that helpful when I asked her about what foods I should be avoiding. She just gave me a couple of books that were for a diabetic and told me to limit my calories to 1,500 mg. I want to know what foods I can/can't eat to help me lose weight. I've been feeling very frustrated with this lately! I'm going to order this book and see what it can do for me in losing weight!
Thanks for the info. But, which book is the best? Which one do you have? Or do you have all of them? I have read a lot on this forum about IR and I think that I will give it a try....But, I need to know which book offers the most info. to help me be successful....
Thanks,
Tara

Good morning ladies (well it's morning in NW Florida)!!!
I am in need of a list of appropriate foods that are usually eaten on the IR diet. I have not received my IR diet book yet and want to go to the grocery store so I can start eating correctly. Is there somewhere on here that I can get this list? Would you be able to list an example of the meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks) for a day to give me a head start? I just want to start feeling better. I am so sick of being tired and shaky. I want to feel rejuvenized again LOL! I'm only 30 and I think that I sleep more than my own mom.
Thanks so much!!!

You have to link carbs with protein. I find this IR diet very easy to follow and have lost about 30 lbs. so far with another 30 or so left to go. I love the fact that I don't have to count calories, etc. I can still eat cookies, ice cream but I stick with the sugar free versions now. I try to limit my sugar intake to try to avoid my insulin from spiking.
I highly recommend the first book that Kat listed!! It's a superb book, easy to follow and easy to do too. I just look up in the book how much of one fruit I can eat as a serving to give me an idea of how much protein to link it up with, etc.
I'm reading the PCOS Diet Book, that's the name plain and simple very wholistic and goes through all kinds of natural supplements you can add and what they specifically do, and encourages variety from all food groups with portion control AWESOME book!!
The Complete Idiot's Guide to Glycemic Index Weight Loss
My doctor recommended The Complete Idiot's Guide to Glycemic Index Weight Loss
to me and she said she knows people who have lost considerable amount of weight and she also lost weight from using this book! I'm going to buy it soon, was wondering if anyone else has read it?

I just finished reading the Insulin Resistance Diet book (received it two days ago by mail). I'm pretty excited about what I've learned; and I'm so looking forward to starting it tomorrow.
Does anyone know if there is a message board, not unlike soulcysters.net, which deals completely on this diet?

I've just started the IR diet. It is a bit confusing, but i find that it is alot easier than thr Zone. You do have to eat frequent small meals and just make sure that you do not eat more than 30 carbs in a two hour period. I haven't been doing it very long, but I'm already losing weight! Good Luck!
Hi all. just got diagnosed 6 weeks ago. On metformin now. Will read the IR Diet for sure.... if I can get it here. Doc wants me to lose 5 kg but even 1kg seems impossible.....
