I also just got the book. So easy to understand, and so much better than any diet I've ever come across!

Thank you so much for posting the books! Is this similar to the South Beach diet? (Unrefined carbs, whole grains, low fat, lean meats, etc.)?

I read a few reviews that talk about the IR diet not being good about choosing "smart" carbs like high grain bread, etc... that it doesn't distinguish between white and whole grain bread.

Is this true, or was it a misinformed review?

thanks

Question New edition of the IR book, and another new book by the authors

Hello everyone,
I've been reading the great comments about this book, and I was thinking of trying it myself, but now I might wait to buy it because next month a new edition is coming out. I thought you all might like to know:
AmazonAmazon
Also, there's another book by the same authors, looks to be sort of a sequel? It's called the Feel-Good Diet, and the reviews say it addresses why dieters, especially carb-free ones can get depressed and goes into more detail about meal plans, etc. Has anyone here read this book??? Any feedback on it?
AmazonAmazon
I've been scouring the web for details so I can start in this direction, but I don't want to buy the book now when the new edition is coming out Nov. 25. I've heard some similar ideas in the last few years about balancing carbs and proteins, etc, from people on low Glycemic index plans and the Provida plan(that one has too many meals a day when you have business meetings all day), but it seems like the Insulin Resistance diet was one of the first books out there, and I'm encouraged by the great feedback from women with PCOS.

Hi everyone, I'm new to this site, but I have something to share. I ordered a book online and have started the diet. It is very strict, but I'm amazed at how my body is reacting to it after only 2 days. I'm more satisfied, calm and my overall being is centered. (does that make sense?)

The book is called "The Natural Diet Solution for PCOS and Infertility."

I like to approach things naturally whenever possible, so this book is right up my alley. I weight 240 pounds and I am trying to lose weight so my husband and I can have a baby.

If you've read it, let me know!

Thanks!

Oh, I never introduced myself. Sorry. I was over excited. My formal introduction is in the newbie section. I will join you here, hope you don't mind but I'm just going to put my feet up. HI KATE! Your the BEST. Thanks for such a wonderful web presence!

I'm still reading the IR book. I was distracted for a couple of days because I'm in the process of buying a house *my offer was accepted! I get my VERY OWN PILATES ROOM! only because we have 4 bedrooms and there is just the 2 of us.

I've shared my goals with folks in the conservative christians thread because I want some people of faith on my side. People who believe in a power much larger than us. Now I want to share my goals with you to. In November I officially start the IR Diet. I will also start the couch to 5 K program. I'm too excited.

I've been experimenting a little with the IR Diet. I feel better already. It's amazing. I will journal a bit because I want to be certain that I am not getting too much fat or cholestorol. I also want to substitute some animal fats for other low fat items.

Can we share ideas?

What about The South Beach Diet? I have heard before that it is a good diet for pcos. Just to skip the phase one. Have many of you tried any of the IR book? I will have to take a look at it. I need to loose a lot of weight.

Hi all! Is there a support thread that we all can chat in. I was just diagnosed with IR and would like to look into an IR diet. I have a few books on low GI, but I wanted to see if IR would be better. Also I wondered....can sweeteners like splenda increase insulin? If so, should I switch to something else? If so, is there anything? Thanks!

Hi everyone! I'm new to this site and stopped here first to see what book recommendations there were! I plan on getting the IR diet book! Seems that a lot of people like that. I wanted to ask if any of you have read The Healthiest Diet in the WorldThe Healthiest Diet in the World by Nikki Goldbeck and David Goldbeck? My mom has this book and she swears by it and I was looking through it and loved how much she had in there about IR. There are tons of great recipes in it. I just want to try to get my own copy instead of having to borrow my moms! LOL!

Well, off to really scope out this site! I'm so glad I found it! Finding out I have PCOS was a shocker and I know I will need this place! {{{HUGS}}}
