Question Diet Issues

Hi,
I was diagnosed with PCOS 4 years ago when I was 20. I found out I had it after putting on loads of weight even though my diet hadn't changed so I went to the docs and it turned out to be PCOS. I have since had my first baby (after 3 years of trying naturally and then 6 months of fertility treatment).
The two symptoms of PCOS that cause me the most trouble are weight gain and my skin breaking out. I want to get started on a whole new diet in the new year to lose some weight and get my skin looking healthy again but I'm struggling with what meals I should be making etc as I am also vegetarian. I bought a couple of books on PCOS a couple of years ago but a lot of the recommended meals aren't vegetarian so it's hard to stick to a healthy diet that controls the hormone imbalances etc...

Does anyone know some simple but healthy vegetarian recipes that are low in sugar etc or anyone know of any books etc that can help me?

I have already done well to lose 30 kilo's since the birth of my daughter but I have about another 20 kilo's to go until I'm at a healthy weight.

Sure I can help you

For breakfast try high fiber cereal w/ organic milk, almonds & walnuts (added protein and omega 3) and blueberries

For Snacks throughout the day eat Greek yogurt -- It has less sugar and carbs then regular yogurt and more protien since your a vegetarian

For lunch try greek salad -- this will also help with skin issues

Here's my recipe: Mustard Greens, Romaine Lettuce, Chopped Tomatoes, Black Olives, Feta Cheese, Chickpeas for protien and add any other veggies you like as well

For dressing try- Olive Oil, Lemon and some apple cider vinegar (for insulin resistance) Also add in Flax Seed Oil with Ligans that balances your hormones, aids with weight loss and will help with some of your skin issues

I don't know what your estrogen levels are but mine are low so I try to eat tofu twice a week with mixed veggies.. You can eat that.. also don't eat white bread or white rice..

Stick to brown rice, eat losts of beans, and try buckwheat for breads -- You can make a pizza out of it, using feta and goat cheese, and spinach artichoke and tomatoes

Your skin breaks out for several reasons one is elevated androgens and the other is it's your body's way of releasing toxins

If your diet consists of veggies, fruits, and whole grains, organic dairy and beans (don't know if you can eat fish.. but if you can ADD that it in, it's very important that you get enough protien) your skin should clear up

I'd also suggest taking saw pametto for lowering androgens and women's toner tea or women's liberty tea to aid in that and balance your hormones

Also take an Amino Acid supplement for protien and a good mutli vitamin, if your lacking in anything take an extra individual vitamin

Hope that helps!
