Default Diet for Thin Cyster with PCOS

Hi everyone! Hope everyone had a great holiday! It's been a while since I've been on the board, but I have a question that I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me with:

I had my baby boy 3 and a half months ago (on his due date!) and lost most of my weight within weeks-I was a too thin 111 whenI got pregnant, blew up to 154, and I'm now 124. I know I have IR problems-I conceived on Metformin and my cycles were clockwork when I took the Met. Right now I'm ata a fine weight, and I'm breastfeeding, but I would like to lose 7 more pounds eventually. But before that I was wondering if anyone knows about what sorts of foods are good for PCOSers to eat. I know we're supposed to watch for "insulin resistance" stuff, but what does that mean? No sugar at all? No potatoes? A typical day I'll eat organic oatmeal for breakfast, some greek yogurt with fruit spread, sandwich on whole wheat bread for lunch, but by the time dinner comes, it's whatever's there.... and once a week I will have pasta and I admit, we have gotten so many treats at work that I have had more sugary treats than usual. Who knew cakes and cookies and chocolate were so good!

Any help with this is much appreciated.

Default Congrats

Congratulations on your baby boy - how exciting! I've found the South Beach diet to be a very healthy diet and lifestyle for maintaining weight for me being IR and pre-diabetic. (even when diagnosed at 27!) I've never been overweight, but I feel awful - shakey, sweaty, can't focus etc. when I am not eating well. The diet can be as strict or flexible as you want if you're not trying to lose a lot of weight, but the diet book gives you great ideas of healthy recipes and meal plans. Its a healthy way to eat for the rest of your life rather than just to lose weight. Good luck and don't forget to give yourself a break!
