I personally have been on tons of diets and not succeeded and now that I'm learning about food and fueling my body, I eat totally different and if I had ham with pineapple poured over it (mentioned on a different thread), I would have full fledged sugar cravings and swollen eyes b/c of the salt.
If I came across rude, I'm sorry. Tera...congrats on the weight loss!! You go girl!

I changed up my work out today and I can't move I'm so sore. This healthy stuff is tough. j/k

Hahahaha, what a picture Lol! I do have to agree with you on the ham. Certain types are very salty. I doubt I could eat a lot of super salty types of ham and still wear my wedding rings! It would probably make me sweat a lot too. That's a high price for a meal! I would have to waterlog myself afterwards!

Many women here have followed a similar plan (Atkins) with the great success that you have. I am looking forward to reading your blog. I tried the link from the other post but it didn't work. I have a link to my blog in my siggie.

I only lost on Atkins and SB phase 1 and the second I added fruit even in tiny quantities I gained. I have issues since I am not a huge meat/fish eater. I also felt so deprived I always ended up losing it and gaining all the weight back plus more.
Congrats on the weight loss!

My Mood: Points: 2,745.43 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,745.43 | For some women with IR and PCOS, ANY type of sugar or carb will "set things off". Natural sugars and wheat are bad for me. I rarely eat fruit and wheat. There is a deeper explaination for the wheat portion somewhere on this board. Quote:

Points: 115,301.41 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 115,301.41 | I'm very interested in this 'diet'. A very good friend of mine has lost a tonne of weight and I believe she eats foods on your list. She doesn't have pcos but was overwieght and through trial and error discovered she has wheat allergies. She has been gently nudging me for a long time to join her way of eating and I've been hesitant. I would love to get off my Metformin and finally lose weight! One of the things keeping me from starting today is that I'm at the very early stages of starting IVF. I am currently waiting for af and once I get to cd1 I'm going to be starting down regs. I want/need desperately to lose at least some weight before I get pg, even though my RE isn't concerned about my weight. I feel good about changing my diet during Phase 1 of my cycle but when I start stims (approx. mid Sept) I'm not sure if that's going to be okay. Also, what about when I get pg, am I able to continue following this plan or do I modify it?? TIA.

I just ordered the IR Diet book and when it arrives I plan on comparing it to the things listed here. I'm pretty good with "lifestyle modifications" so having a guide on what to and not to eat works WELL for me! Congrats on your 30 pound weight loss! |

My Mood: Points: 1,822.53 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,822.53 | This is a most interesting food list, thanks for posting it Tera!
I have been trying to incorporate whole grains into my diet, and hate to eliminate them ALL, so I think I will use the IR diet concept of balancing when I want to have those items (as well as trying to keep the fat to a minimum with the meats). I am not sure where millet flour and flax seed fall into this mix, but I am addicted to Millet and Flax chips I get at my local Co-op. They are only 11 carbs in one serving and I eat them with sliced tomato and cheese (for balancing).
I guess I will have to give up my banana-a-day too, hehe!
I lost weight on Weight Watchers in college, but I was in my early 20's. Now that I'm into my 30's it is just harder and harder, and I think my body has changed so much since then
Thanks again for posting it, and I am enjoying reading everyones replies as well! Hopefully we can ALL find what works for us!
