Question Difference between Met and Glucophage

Has anyone noticed a difference ,in results, between Met and Glucophage? When I was first dignosed I was put on Glucophage. It regulated my hormones but that was it. I got tired of taking meds and quit. Now I am back on them but taking Met instead. I have noticed a difference, my preoids are back and regular. And I have only been on the met for one month. I have gucophage now and I am worried things might change if I start taking it again. I know that they are suppoes to be basically the samething, but I still dont know what I should do. If anyone has any advice it would be helpful. Thanks

I don't think there is a difference, but why don't you just stay on met if you are unsure?

I've noticed a slight variation in my cycles from different "versions" of met. My pills used to be chalkier and my cycles were 28 days. Then, one month, my pills were smoother and now my cycles are usually 31 days (unless on clomid). It's probably in my head though!

dolfinluvr,

I had different reactions to met and glucophage.

I was on Glucophage before Metformin came out and I didn't have any problems from the beginning. When Met came on the market, my insurance automatically made me take the generic Met. Within 2 days, I had all the horrible side effects people usually associate with it. I call my doc and she re-issued the prescription for Glucophage only. Since then I haven't had any problems. And luckily, my insurance covers Gluc at the same rate as the Met. Both my doc & the pharmacist agree that there are many people who react to the different coating and/or fillers in Met vs. Gluc.
