Difference in Metformin and Fortamet

hello ladies,
i was wondering if anyone has taken both metformin and fortamet and stuck with one or the other? i used to take Metformin and it really tore up my stomach. Recently when i was ready to start it again my OBGYN put me on Fortamet and she told me thats what she puts all her patients with PCOS on when trying to concieve. Is there a major difference in it helping conceive? The price is 90 dollars for a Rx for Fortamet vs. 7 dollars for a Rx. of Metformin.
HELP...
