The pills were an off color, caplets, and smelled strongly like cotton candy (I know wierd, but they really did!). This time I had it filled at CVS and the pills are HUGE tablets, white and they smell really bad! I asked the pharmacist what the difference was and he said just different manufacturers. Each pill is 850mg, BTW. What do your pills look like? Do you think there is a difference in the effectiveness of these pills? I ask because so far my SE are far less than they were with the first RX I had! Thanks! |

Points: 690.35 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 690.35 | I thought those first pills were bad enough to take due to their size, but I'd much rather take them than these tinky ones that are even larger! My new pill has 'BP 127' stamped on its side. Any ideas of how to look up the manufacturer of this particular pill? I've still got the bottle from my first RX maybe I can figure out what manufacturer it was also. If all else fails, I'll call the pharmacy and ask, but I hate to be a pest! I happen to know the manager of CVS well, and I may request the other manufacturer if possible because I'd rather get my rx there! |

Now if they would market chocolate flavored met, I'd be a happy woman!

Points: 690.35 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 690.35 | Thanks ladies! I wanted to update to say, duh...why didn't I just look on my bottle! The 'cotton candy' pills were made by Watson and the stinky ones by Mylan. I found the site where the FDA approved these companies to manufature Metformin.
This is from that site:
14 75-976 METFORMIN HYDROCHLORIDE TABLETS 500 MG, 850 MG, AND 1 G MYLAN PHARMACEUTICALS, INC. 1/24/02
15 75-979 METFORMIN HYDROCHLORIDE TABLETS 500 MG, 850 MG, AND 1 G WATSON LABORATORIES, INC. 1/24/02
And the site if anyone is interested: http://www.fda.gov/cder/ogd/approvals/AP0102.htm |
