Okay, maybe not difinitive, but I do have a few questions. I did a search on Chromium GTF on this board and got some good stuff, but I have some questions. I am thinking about starting it soon, as I have a history of diabetes in my family, have all the symptoms of IR and can't get the weight off.
1. How much Chromium GTF is a daily dose. Is that based on weight, or what?
2. How is it taken? With meals, away from meals, before bed? Only on certain days of the cycle, or every day?
3. What are the side effects, or possible side effects of Chromium GTF?
4. Will it mask my IR in a blood test, or does it really "cure" it?
5. Can it be taken with drugs like glucophage, etc? If my specialist (whom I am waiting to see) wants me on a drug like that, should I mention the Chromium?
6. Can it be taken with other TTC drugs? Are there any ill effects?
That's all I can think of for now. I would really apprecaite any answers that you can give. You are all great!

I've read tons on chromium, too, but every time I have taken it, I don't have a good response. I was told the average daily dosage is 200 mg, no more than 400 mg.
About 6 years ago, I took it and it made me so sleepy, and made me have to urinate 24/7. It felt like I had taken two benadryl! I stopped a little while later when the drowsiness didn't disappear.
Then, about 4 months ago, I bought an herb concoction that had 200 mg chromium in it. Same thing!
I am not sure why this happens. I thought chromium regulated your blood sugar and gave you MORE energy, not less. I mean, seems to me if one of the signs of unchecked diabetes is low energy and frequent urination, chromium was making me diabetic!
Goofy, I know. Wish I knew someone to ask about it. Good luck in your search! - Kim

1. The dayly dosage is up to the brand you are using. Always trust the recomanded amount told by the manufacturer. After some time you will feal do you need more of it or less.
2. IT is usually taken with meals. Better take it in the morning, because it can give you a lot of energy. Some cysters have wrote here, that when taken in the evening they have had hard times falling a sleap.
3. Not sure about the side effects.
4. Will it mask my IR in a blood test, or does it really "cure" it?
It does not cure, it reduces the insuline levels. So do not use it before IR test.
5. Can it be taken with drugs like glucophage, etc? If my specialist (whom I am waiting to see) wants me on a drug like that, should I mention the Chromium?
Yep. It is like taking two dosage of gluc, if you use gluc and cromium.

Okay, I bought some today. Thanks for the info. The brand that I have is 500mcg, taken once a day. I'll take it in the morning. I took it today and I don't feel any different, but it's Saturday, and my schedule isn't normal today. Thank you so much for answering.

I started taking it on Saturday, and by yesterday I was finding that the thought of loads of carbs was making me nauseous. We had pasta for dinner, with sourdough bread, and it really didn't go down well, and I LOVE pasta and sourdough! So, maybe something is happening. I hadn't heard of an aversion to carbs being a side effect, but maybe it is.
