Red face Diflucan?

Hi cysters!

Here I am again with a TMI thread, hee hee.

I have another yeast infection, this is the worst I've ever had. The monistat (7 day) has done absolutely nothing to stop it. I'm itching, burning, and so sore it hurts to sit down. Also I'm bleeding (from the infection I'm sure, as it seems to be coming more from the outside than inside!) My doc called in some Diflucan for me, which I picked up tonight. I've never taken it, so I guess I'm just looking for some cysters who have taken it to tell me how it worked for them, also any side effects anyone has had. How quickly am I going to feel better?

Thanks cysters, and I hope you all have a wonderful night.

Hugs
Jenny

Jenny! I am sorry that it hurts so bad. I know exactly how you feel!

The only thing that seems to work for me when I get YF's is diflucan. Mine can get so bad, that it takes two rather than one to get rid of it.

There was never any side effects for me and it started to work after about 24 hours.

HTH!

i recently went to my yearly exam and i was informed that i had a yeast infection...i didnt even know! it didnt burn, i wasnt itching, i didnt have any discharge so when she told me i was in shock!! she stuck that pap smear instrument thing in me and when she pulled it out..TMI ALERT: it had white stuff and blood on it...but it was all at the top..had i not gone i would have never known and it could have gotten worse...i dont know why i didnt feel anything...has that happend to anyone?

anyways i thought she was gonna give me diflucan but instead she gave me gynazole cream...i had to stick the tube up there and release all the cream...it was like a one time thing..im hoping everything is fine tho...it was just yesterday when i did it

I have had that happen several times. I would go in and the doctor let me know that I had a yeast infection. I have to watch carefully to see any changes in CM etc. to tell if I have one.

I hope that the medicine she gave you works!

Diflucan is what my mom uses and it works great for her. I have never had to take anything more that over the counter meds, so I don't have first hand knowledge to share.

Try a different cream along with the Diflucan...I had a horrendous YI a couple years ago and the 7-day Monistat didn't touch it. I used the yuckier 3-day Monistat and Diflucan. It still took a few days for the insane itching to cease.

Eat yogurt and kefir too...kefir is good on top of granola.

Hi there,

I've used diflucan before, ages ago, and it worked fine for me. Also I've used canesten too, both cream and suppositories.
HTH.

Diflucan always works for me whenI have to take it, but to help even more, eat plenty of yogurt with live cultures, that will help a lot. And make sure you wear cotton undies, not synthetic materials, that lets your parts "breathe" and prevent the infections in the first place.

Good luck.

Hi cysters, thank you so much for the replies.

I'm doing about the same today, no side effects so that's good! I'm hoping this will take care of the yeasties once and for all. This is the second infection I've had in the past month.

Thanks for all the good tips!

And kristine I hope your infection is all cleared up now! :Hugs:

I'll let you know when things start to improve.
Have a good day cysters!

Hugs
Jenny

I have taken Diflucan several times. I used to have a big problem with yeast. The times I get a YI most often are when I take anitbiotics, when I wear non cotton, when I used sented or dyed toilet paper, or if for some reason (which I dont let happen anymore) I dont clean thoughly after sex. I never saw anything like Cara is talking about though I have only been visited by AF without the normal meds 1 time in 13 years. I have also tried herbal remedies and spent more money than I like to think about on Monistat. Diflucan for me worked much better and faster than anything else though. I wish it was as readily available as other things to treat YI's!
Good Luck Jenny I hope you feel better very soon! ~hugs~

I never felt that Difulcan was that great. I guess it kind of worked, but though it says it works in 24 hours, it definitely didn't get rid of my symptoms for a few days. However, I never tried taking 2 at once. I guess I'd say that it didn't hurt, but I'm not sure it 'helped' necessairly, because it always seemed like things would run their natural course either way. I guess I was on it about 5 years ago though, so maybe my memory is foggy.

I've had problems with yeast infections for a couple years. I also have to take two Diflucan to get rid of them. I take one, then 48 hours later, I take the second. It has always worked for me, although it makes my guts unhappy. Hope you are feeling better soon!

Thanks cysters. You all help me feel better just by your caring.

I had to go in to the doc today, he did some swabs and said I have a bacterial overgrowth. So I'm on antibiotics, and I have to go back in 2 weeks.

Thanks again for your replies and your caring cysters. I will let you know how things are going.

Hugs to all
Jenny
