SO I went to see my gyn last night. I wanted her to prescribe femara since clomid wasn't working. She said she didnt feel comfortable prescribing something that was not FDA approved! Whatever, anyways she did a small ultrasound and it showed a very small cyst (nothing that she was worried about). Anyways I have an appt to go see the reproductive endo. at the end of the month. So she felt more comfortable me taking a break and then taking the meds. Here's the thing, I have one more prescription of Clomid at the house and I was thinking to just take it. Also she set me an appt. with an internal ultrasound of my ovaries (just to make sure everything was okay since I didnt react to the clomid). I was thinking that it would fall right around cycle day 10 and I could see if the clomid was working this cycle. What do you think?

Also when I requested that my doctor sign a letter that states that she recommends me to go to the gym b/c of pcos (insurance will pay for my gym membership this way) she said she would write a letter that would say I need to go to the gym b/c of obesity. I was shocked, I told her I gained wait b/c of the pcos and she said that obesity contributes to pcos. SO in her words if your fat you have pcos, then I told her that many thin cysters have pcos too! And she was like thats a different type of pcos. I was shocked. I had once cared for this doctor and all this made me see her in a different light!

Ladies I really need your help and opinion.

she is a living bi**h id say slap her too it was like that when it was my back that was causing problems iv got a bad back and when i over done my back she suggested that i go on disability (i am really bad with my back) but i said they wont let me so she said i'll write you a letter and she said that i should go back in and she would have it for the day i get her to fill in form then when i went back she didnt remember saying this and refused the letter....!!!!ahhhhHHHHHHH!!!! i felt like slapping her

The silly c**. I have pcos but am slim and if she thinks thin people have a different type of pcos than she has no right to class herself as a doctor. Drop her immediately and write a very long letter to her! Dealing with pcos is hard enough and you think out of all people your doctor would be sympathetic. I don't know why but it makes me so angry just reading your thread. How dare she!!!!!GRRRRRR

I had a similiar situation happen to me. I went to the reproductive dr and she did an ultrasound and told me that because I was so FAT that she couldn't see my ovaries. I was shocked and hurt. Needless to say I have changed drs.........................Good luck and you need to seek other advise!!

I'm sorry your doc offended you! The silver lining is your insurance will probably cover the gym membership easier since it's being submitted as treatment for "obesity" as opposed to PCOS. My OB/GYN NEVER, EVER submits anything as PCOS because she knows it will be a pain in my a$$ if DH and I have to switch insurance companies down the line. Every treatment I receive, while definitely to treat PCOS, is always coded as obesity, hirsutism, etc. I never have claims denied.

Also, technically, your doc is right about Femara. It is totally not approved for infertility. It's prescribed "off-label." In fact, Novartis recently sent docs letters informing them that Femara is not recommended for the treatment of infertility because of the risk of birth defects. (It was absolutely at CYA letter.) I haven't read the literature or studies but I do know they're out there.

Regardless, if your doc makes you feel bad, switch. That's your right as a patient.

Also, Femara may be prescribed "off-label" but, then so were Clomid and Tamoxifen for a time. Plus, as you can see by my siggy, Femara works where Clomid didn't!
