Default DILEMA - Help please, your opinions on a hard decision!!

Well i've finally found out what my real strong stomach pains are due to Gastroesophageal reflux disease, and well basically to cure it I have to take a month of medicine which I cannot be pregnant on.

I got my first round of Clomid 2 weeks ago and am now awaiting AF...

What would you do? Forgot the stomach pains, maybe get preggo put up with it till after the birth, even though i've been to A&E twice in the last year, and then treat it....And so start taking Clomid ASAP.

Or just carry on with my Ovulex this month (it really has helped me O more regulary) to keep things on track, do the stomach pain medicine for a month (I will start from the 1st/2nd/ jan) and then when it's all sorted start with Clomid, we're talking february here... (And if by pure luck I get preggo in this month I will stop taking the medicine imediately)

I know the answer is OBVIOUS but it's my heart against my head and usually my heart wins!!! Even when in the wrong

Well, I'll just say this, pregnancy heartburn PLUS GERD would be a freaking nightmare! The pregnancy heartburn was bad enough and there wasn't anything they could really do for it. My understanding, since baby Bellie has reflux, is that GERD can do permanent damage if left untreated.

Hugs, good luck on your decision.

The decision is entirely your call, but in my opinion, if it was me, I think I would take the treatment first. Because like dachshundqueen said, pregnancy heartburn really sucks, but adding GERD on top of that would be really bad. You need to take care of you first so you can have a happy and healthy pregnancy, in my opinion. I was planning on TTCing #2 this winter, but realized that I had some loose ends with myself to deal with before bringing a baby into the world, like weight loss and getting my vision corrected by Lasik, which means that there has to be a 6 month time frame before I can get preggo, so I am just holding off until next fall/winter for #2.

Good luck on your decision.

(((hugs))) Leanne... I'm so sorry you are going through this, and now of all times!

One thing I would like to add is that untreated GERD has been shown to cause cancer of the esophagus. I certainly don't think yours would have progressed to that point now, but if you waited to get pregnant, then for the pregnancy, well you follow me. And as others have said, pregnancy would probably exacerbate the GERD, possibly increasing the risk.

I'm sorry hon (((hugs)))

Dana

Awwwwwwwww that really sucks But sometimes a break can be a good thing. I took a break for a while and after the initial shock of not knowing what to obsess about I did just fine. If you do take a month off I would suggest focusing on you while you can! Get your hair done or go hot tubbing, have some wine, the things we ttc'ers tend to avoid! Just think how uncomfortable you would be if you got pregnant before solving this.
