Hi everyone,

I went to the Dr. today and once again my blood pressure was elevated. So, he put me on Diovan HCT... and reading over the product literature, it looks like it's not a good medication for women who want to become pregnant (that's one strike against it -- because as soon as we can get ovulating, we want to get pregnant!)

Has anyone here had experience with this particular medication, and does anyone have suggestions about an alternative medication for when we're trying to conceive?

Hi, when I went to my first appt with my obgyn he wanted to change my blood pressure med to a different one. I had been on zestril. They switched it to propanerol(the spelling may be wrong). there was one other that was actually better, but you have to take it 4 times a day. propaneral only has to be taken one time a day. mabye this will help you.

I talked with my Dr, and she doesn't want to switch me to a different medication until I get pregnant (guess she doesn't have much faith in me getting pregnant!) and also is refusing to prescribe Clomid for me until after I deal with a fatty tumor which is growing on my leg.

As if I can't be responsible enough to deal with the tumor without some leverage from her!

Anyway, I've got an appointment with the surgeon on Monday to see what he says about doing a biopsy or removing the tumor.

I was also on Diovan HCT when I became pregnant. What's funny is that I told the doc that I wanted something that would be safe while TTC. At the time, we weren't activally TTC, but not preventing either, so he prescribed the Diovan anyway. Found out two months later that I was actually pregnant at the time I started the Diovan.

So far the u/s show a healthy growing baby. My OB doesn't feel like the Diovan has done me any harm. I'm not due until November, so we'll find out then IF my meds affected the baby.
