Unhappy Discharge in Bowel (Sorry-TMI)ButNERVOUS

Okay, I apologize in advance---this is a nasty topic & extremely embarrassing for me, but I am in desperate need of some advice from others that may know something about this or can direct me on what type of DR to see, etc...though I don't know how I'll manage to admit this to somebody in person...

I have been having major issues, the pcos, stopped pill TTC, belly blew up, had a vag ultrsound & dr found pelvic mass, may have endo, having a Laparoscopy this week.....another gross thing has started....I have just started noticing discharge attached to my bowel movements...OMG, this is so disgusting.......but I am assuming it is NOT a good thing.
ANY info would help...I am a major wreck right now.

This happens to me sometimes, too. Usually for me, it's if I have been a little bit constipated or have a "drier", harder poo. Typically, it only happens once, and then goes away, so I haven't worried too much about it.

How long have you had this? And does it seem to be a "normal" mucous color--like white or clear? Or have you noticed blood mixed in?

Have you ever had hemmoroids? I have heard that they can result in mucous with bm's.

Have you changed your diet at all--more or less fiber? How about more fat than usual?

As long as you don't seem to have any other symptoms related to GI problems like pain, diarrhea, or constipation, I wouldn't be too concerned right now...chances are it's just a temporary, harmless thing. If it continues and you're really concerned, I'd ask your doc about testing for Irritable Bowel Syndrome or celiac disease.

Good luck! I hope you feel better soon!

I have IBS and get that kind of mucus sometimes. Usually it happens when I have diahrrea and an upset stomach. It happens when I eat something I shouldn't.

You always have mucus in your stool you just dont see it. It is something that your body produces to keep you from being constipated. You might just be over producing mucus. You might also have IBS. Just ask your doctor. The doctor is used to hearing about stuff like that. If you only want to tell the doctor what is wrong you can tell the nurse that you are there cause you have been having a upset tummy. I have been going to school to be a ma and I know that some people dont want to tell the nurse cause they are imbarssed but the DR will understand. If you are worried you need to talk to the doctor.

Mucous in the stool is normal. From what I have been told, it serves to line the digestive tract and keep everything moving along.

If you have an excessive amount, see blood, or are feeling pain during a movement, then time to talk to a doctor. But otherwise, it's just the way our body works.

This is perfectly normal for me! Do you find that you are in your cycle about the time you're supposed to ovulate? If so, that's probably what it is! It used to freak me out too, then I read TCOYF (Taking Charge of Your Fertility) and it explained it perfectly!
