Default Discouraged!

I've been on BCP since I was 18 because I had irregular cycles. I went off the pill to TTC and got no period, after 8 months of no period I went to an Endo and was diagnosed with PCOS (thin, no other symtoms but cystic ovaries, irregular periods and no O). They put me back on the pill and told me to come back when I was ready to get pregnant.

We decided to TTC in January. I had an HSG and found one tube blocked. My Endo wanted to do a procedure to unblock it but my insurance wont pay. He said I could try TTC with one tube, so he put me on the pill for two weeks, then a round of clomid and estrace. (My lining is very thin). Had my levels checked after but my follicle was still too small for the shot. I came back in a few days and then they said I already ovulated and I should get my period soon. No period came. Now he says this is all going to be too expensive for me because I have crummy insurance and they dont pay anything. I'm self employed and they wont cover my pcos because its pre-exsisting.

Now he wants me to try it 'old school', like do the same thing, same meds and cycle, but with over the counter ovulation tests. This really seems like a shot in the dark. And I'm concerned because I'm already 36, I feel like I'm running out of time!

I don't know if this is bad advice? Or if I should see someone else? I've already accumulated over $2000 is med bills for blood tests and ultrasounds.

Help!

Hi Mary 16. Sorry to hear you're so frustrated with this. TTC is so stressful. and a lot of insurances won't cover infertility, period. Mine won't either, so we've got to pay cash for everything--so expensive! So you've been TTC 2 months or did you start trying Jan 08? did you ask your RE if he had any concerns about ovarian reserve from all the tests he ran? if not, it sounds like reasonable advice to try several times with the clomid and monitor with OPK's and maybe temp charting too so you can make sure to time things right.

Sounds like my story with the no period issue! I am so frustrated right now...but I am doing a vitamin/herbal supplement coupled with strict healthy, whole food diet...
