Default Diva cup? ( newbie question here)

I just got af and inserted my diva cup.

my question, is it normal to kinda feel it in the beginning? sitting, I feel nothing but if I cough or whatever it kinda feels like when a tampon has come too far down into the vagina canal.

should I trim the stem a bit? I am using model 1. or is this normal in the beginning?

I guess you could say the feeling is an awareness that it is there.

TIA

I had the same thing and it was much more comfortable once I trimmed the stem. They tell you to leave part of the stem, but you really can cut the whole thing off, unless they've changed it since I bought mine.

If it's staying in place, you bought the right size. Other than the weird feeling, how are you liking it?

besides the fact that I can kinda feel it, so far so good!

but then I have only had it in for an hour LOL

I will give it a few more tries with the stem and then maybe I'll trim it a bit!

Another question about how to wash it, would soap free feminine wash like vagisil be ok?

Pink - I just use a glycerin based soap to wash mine. I found that it did a better job of cleaning it than "regular" soaps.
It took me a couple tries to get the Diva Cup up far enough and to get it to "pop" open. After that it was smooth sailing. I have kept the stem on mine, as it doesn't bother me.

the first time I used mine, it was too far down. I always "know" it is there, but it doesn't hurt or bother me. You'll get used to it and love it too!

Make sure you clean those little holes, too...I found that the shower attachment blasted 'em out nicely. Otherwise they can be little germ farms. I just use a regular hand soap or body wash. It's probably better to use something unscented, but it hasn't bothered me yet.

Glad it's working for you. Go DIVAS! Can I admit something weird here? I'm almost looking forward to my first postpartum AF so I can use the Divacup. Sick, huh?

Instead is disposable, and you can pick them up at your local drugstore.

I have to agree with the other cysters that these types of devices are AWESOME!

Sorry, but I don't understand the positive benefits of this form of menstral "protection".... Why would someone want to use a CUP instead of the usual??? (I still just use plain old pads)

No leaks - AT ALL. I didn't understand the benifits either until I tried it. Buh-bye pads!

No leaks, no mess, not feeling all icky down there, in the case of the divacup, no waste, no worry of running out. Lots of reasons! Not to mention, you can wear a divacup a heckuva lot longer than a pad or tampon, with a significantly lower risk of TSS.

I trimmed my diva cup stem and I cant feel a thing now, it is so awesome! I had it in all night too!

Cleaning is simple just by squeezing it underhot water to get the holes clean, and to clean it I have been using vagasil feminine wash!

And being reusable is a huge plus! I have a ton of left over instead cups I like them, but they leak a bit for me! I have had no leaks so far with the diva cup!

NO more 'pons or pads!

Ammaarah - I guess you are having Diva Cup withdrawl

I've never had any problems getting the little holes clean.

No more spending $$$ on supplies, sleeping naked, wearing white bottoms ... the advantages are many.
