I have had dizziness a few times a year since 2001. My doctor originally told me to get an over the counter remedy called meclizine (the brand name I buy is Bonine but I'm sure it comes in different names). You can find it in the motion-sickness section, like with Dramamine.

It helps somewhat, but I have to take it before my episodes get really bad or else it takes a long time to work. I have taken three or four of those chewable tablets in a 24-hour period, which my doctor said was okay. It makes me a little drowsy but it helps take the edge off if I have to drive somewhere.

I get dizzy all the time, but mine is more due to anxiety than anything.

Wow! This is great timing. Recently, I've been having dizzy spells and I've never had them before. I think I might go to my doctor and see what's up.

Thanks for all the info ladies. I'm glad I came across this thread.

I have a problem with dizziness. My neurologist diagnosed it as benign positional vertigo with nystagmus. That's when your eyes bounce up and down until the dizziness stops. It only lasts a few minutes and doesn't happen all the time, though I do have trouble with my balance sometimes. It has something to do with the little tiny hars in the inner ear. DR said a physical therapist can do some manipulations of my head and that will help.
