Default dizziness/sweating

I've been taking a low dose of met for a couple of years. I don't know if it's doing anything (I've managed to lose weight by exercise and reducing caloric intake), but today I had the worst reaction at lunch. I had never really had this happen before.

I suddenly started sweating profusely, was very lightheaded, and also needed to use the restroom. I ate what I eat about every day---a half tuna salad sandwich and Lay's baked potato chips and a huge bottle of water. I felt so bad I can't even believe it. All over 500 mg??! I suspect the Met because I know these are side effects and this was a brand new refill of pills I got from the pharmacy.

Anyone else experienced this? It sure makes me think twice about taking it. Ugh. I almost passed out in my office at work! I was sitting on the floor under my desk--how ridiculous!

This has never happened to me on 1500 mg a day. I have been on it since August. BUT Clomid has done the exact same thing you described. Are you on any other meds?

Yep. I take Synthroid and Seasonale. My doc told me it was a hypoglycemic attack, and that I need to make sure I take the Met with food (which I did and always do, but since I was talking through various nurses and not directly to the doctor you never know what the doctor actually is told). He also said that if it happens again, or if I feel like it might be about to happen, I need to come in and have my blood sugar tested.

I have to admit I'm apprehensive when I take it now. I don't want a repeat of that episode.

It could have been caused by a diffrent filler. You will notice when you refill your pills sometimes they have a diffrent smell. Usually its from a diffrent filler and some people don't take to kindly (to say the least) to diffrent fillers. If it happens again I would call your doctor just to be on the safe side. Good luck.
