Question Is dizziness a symptom of diabetes?

Just wondering if dizziness is a symptom of diabetes or if anyone else has this. My doctor diagnosed PCOS about 6-8 weeks ago and mentioned that I could be in the pre-diabetes stage. Ever since then, I have noticed that I get dizzy quite often along with some other diabetes symptoms like fatigue especially after eating and sugar cravings. What do you think? Any advice is appreciated.

HI dlj,
Sorry to say, I don't know as every diabetic is different. Some have dizziness more than other symptoms, and others have cold/clammy feeling but not dizzy.
For most of my life I had hypoglycemia, and only when my sugar was extremely low would I get some dizziness. I've had diabetes for about 10 years now, and I don't get dizzy as often, even though my blood sugar is normal. Usually with the dizziness I get cold and clammy, but that doesn't happen to everyone.
You could buy a blood sugar monitor if you are concerned, and see if your dizziness comes with low blood sugar (below 60 mg/dl).

Good luck!

You say your doctor mentioned you COULD have diabetes. Have you been tested? You need a blood test to acurately diagnose diabetes. If you do have it, you need to know, as yes dizziness can be a symptom of uncontrolled blood sugar levels.

Like you, I have PCOS but haven't been tested for diabetes. I get very dizzy and clam up when my blood sugar gets low.

I was told when I was diagnosed with pcos that I was at risk for diabetes I had a insulin resistance test and they said that it was a bit high but I have really bad headaches and dizziness over the last couple of years.
I would go and get checked out it could be something else than the pcos or diabetes

Thank you for asking this question. I am due for some blood work, haven't had bloodwork for about 2 years. I have been experiencing extreme dizziness for about 2 weeks. So much so that I feel as though I might pass out. I have attributed it to stress, but I am really worried that I may have diabetes or poorly controlled blood sugar. I have gained a substantial amount of weight in the past year and a half (about 35 pounds), and I just feel yucky.

I guess I need to get on that blood test and get healthy.

Thanks!
