Default Do any of you have periods even though you don't O?

I was just dx with PCOS a couple of weeks ago. I don't think I've been Oing b/c I've been having really low temps (I temped a few times just to see).

I have read that a lot of women with Pcos rarely have periods. That is not the case with me, however. I am just irregular. I will go 6 weeks with no period and then have one. THen sometimes I might have one and then another one 2 weeks later. They are not heavy...just regular periods.

I haven't had blood tests or an ultrasound. The doc just dx me on the basis that I'd had thyroid tests done about 6 months ago and they were fine. He thought between my weight gain and irregularity, I have PCOS.

Any comments?

Welcome to Soul Cysters! You will find tons of awesome info that Kat has put together for all of us.

I get regular periods but don't O. I'm sure there are other cysters on here with the same scenario. It kind of dawned on me that I wasn't since my DF and I aren't always careful and yet no lil pitter patter of any feet.

Good luck and welcome again

I am very irregular also. The best way to find out if you are ovulating is to have your Dr. check your progesterone level on day 18 of your cycle. this can tell you if you ovulated or not. Also my Dr. said that if you go longer than 35 days w/o a cycle that you did not ovulate. Hope this helps!

I started getting regular periods, but wasn't ovulating. I ovulated with clomid though.

I get periods, but they are not regular (28-days). I do not ovulate, even with Clomid.

Hi,

I have never missed a period, however my cycle ranges from 24-35 days. Sometimes I'll have 3-4 months of "regular" 28-29 day cycles.

Not sure if I'm ovulating; lab did progesterone test on day 21 this month and I haven't called for the results yet. I also have blocked tubes, so I figure, it's irrelevant whether I'm ovulating or not.

This last period was weird...started on day 24 and has lasted 8 days--my longest ever. I had a D&C almost 3 wks ago--not sure if that's the reason?

I was the same way as you Sarina.

When I got my dx, the RE told me that these weren't real periods. It was just light bleeding, and that a lot of blood was still there, not shedding at all. This is very dangerous - it can lead to cancer if you don't shed your entire lining. Which is why it's important to get checked and get regular - through BCP or something else.

taking my temps clued me in that i wasn't always ovulating even though i had periods... although irregular! 29-45 days. in the last months before met i didn't have a period for 75 days! i knew because i keep up with my body that it wasn't right.

i was diagnosed, put on met, started working like a well oiled machine, got pregnant!

if i can answer anymore questions let me know! there are lots of good people on the board and loads of info!

I was having 'regular' periods about every 35 days with mid cycle spotting. Never missed a month, so I thought this was regular.

Turns out I wasn't o-ing, and it wasn't until my hormones got whacked back into place, that I had a truly REGULAR 28-day cycle. My doc says that if I stay at 28 days, I'm probably o-ing. (and I'm 28 days to the HOUR.)

I get a period every 28 days. My chart shows a biphasic pattern and everyhitng seems to be working. Still no babies but were working on that now. Glad to hear of some others who ahve a "regular" period.
