Default Do any of you suffer from recurrent yeast or bacterial infections? Well, they

just might not be that after all. I have a friend (another SoulCyster) who is being tested for Lichen sclerosis et atrophicus on Monday. She has been suffering from what her doctors though was yeast or bacterial infections for many months. Finally she went to a dermatologist and they are going to do testing on Monday to see if she has this disorder.

I am wondering if any of you have recurrent yeast infections or bacterial vaginosis? The reason I am asking is because this problem is very often misdiagnosed as one of those two things. I have been dealing with what my OB/GYN thinks is a yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis for about 3 months. I have taken every medication you can imagine and it just doesn't go away. My friend's OB was stumped and didn't know what was going on with her and her and she told me of the problem she is having. Right away I told her I have been going through the exact same thing. I am printing out all sorts of info to take with me to my OB/GYN if I can ever get an appt. Maybe that will help him to get a proper diagnosis for me. While reading about this disorder I read that they think maybe Low Hormones lead to the problem....well us PCOS women sure have that problem. So, if any of you have recurrent yeast or bacterial infections you might want to mention this to your OB's. I would love to see if many of you have recurrent infections so maybe we could see if there is a chance all of this is PCOS related. Please reply to this post and let us know how many of us here area dealing with the recurrent yeast or bacterial infections!!

I am the soulcyster Sheri is referring to. I have had 4 months of misery from this condition being misdiagnosed. Constant uses of antibiotics and yeast meds with NO RELIEF. I am having a biopsy on Monday to confirm that this is lichen sclerosis, but my dermatologist is certain that is what this is. I just found it very odd that Sheri and I have both been going thru the same thing and the only thing we have in common, medically, is PCOS. It may be a long shot but I too am curious to see if any other soulcysters have been plagued with these problems.

Hello fellow Cysters!

You cannot imagine how many times I've been treated for thrush and how many different medication I had to take against yeast infections. From ointments to pills to...

I have never heard of the condition you're talking about. Could you post an internet address where I could find more information? It really sounds like a strange coincidence. Note that my thrush infections always got worse in times when my PCOS symptoms got worse.

All the best
Steph

Steph....here are some sites that might help answer some of your questions. If you have any other questions maybe Leigh or I could help since we have been doing research on this for a few days.

I hope you know how to copy and paste because I am not sure that these will show up as a link. If you can't figure it out let me know I will keep trying til I get it right

A couple of years ago, I went for SEVERAL months with this problem. Had BV and then the antibiotics gave me yeast infection, took Diflucan, got BV, antibiotics gave me YI, etc etc etc. It went on for months. My doctor explained that it's not really an "infection" but that both yeasts and bacteria live naturally in the vagina, and if they get out of balance, you get an overgrowth of one or the other, so like if the antibiotic kills the bacteria, it allows the yeast to go crazy, and vice-versa.

Mine eventually just cleared up and I haven't had a problem since, but it was seriously many months of dealing with it. Just thought I'd share my story as one more PCOSer who had this problem in the past.

This is me. Thanks for the info. I have checked the links as well as discoveryhealth.com and webmd.com. How do they explain the discharge? I see the link in the skin part. One of the meds is
conjugated estrogens or estradiol. My estrogen is already overstimulating my endometrium so I need a hormone therapy that will balance that. Why can't women's health be less complex.

Thanks for the info.
