Default Do diuretics dry your entire body out?

Does anyone know if diuretics dry out your entire body or just a few areas? I get a dry mouth, throat, hands, feet, lips, and intestense, but I am also inconveniently dry in my vagina. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? If that's not the truth, does anyone think it may be because I wear pantyliners everyday?

If you're getting dried out like that when you take diuretics you are not drinking enough fluids. Diuretics can cause dehydration but not if your water intake is at the recommended amount. Is this a prescription for blood pressure or a weight loss diuretic?

Vaginal dryness can be due to a hormone imbalance.

The pantyliners have nothing to do with it. I don't know the answer to your question though, sorry!

I agree, you have to keep your water intake up when you are taking diuretics. I was on them for several years, but I drink alot of water so I didn't have a problem.

I take spiro and I get really dry skin in the same area's you are speaking of except down below. I also drink like a gallon of water a day. I think your possibly dry because of the time of year and it may have to do with you not taking in enough fluids. Hope this helps.

Thank you for all of your responses.

I am taking Amiloride to save my kideny from wasting potassium. You said that the vaginal dryness may be due to a hormone imbalance. Well, this is the thing, I have hypothyroidism and polycystic ovary syndrome. I am taking Levothyroxine (Synthroid) and Ortho-triclyclen to help those problems, but do you think I might have a different hormone imbalance or would those medicines just not be doing the full trick for me?

Its not good to where panty liners everyday from what I have heard.
A well respected women gyno wrote a gynocological book (american) about all womens issues and I remember she said not to wear everyday. (can't remember the name of book at this point).
I don't think it gives enough air etc to down there.
ITs better to just get stained undies than wear them everyday (if that is why you wear them).
After all undies are there for all that. Just get cotton undies to let things breath plus if you are on spiro or something you must drink more water than normal. I have heard even met dehydrates a bit, and I have noticed I need more water since starting met.
I never have a thirst for water so I think I'd have trouble with spiro, I think even without spiro I am dehydrated most of the time so try to drink more water even when I don't feel like it... for but for thinnig hair reasons I feel that soon I must do something...

Yeah, I've heard that about pantyliners as well, but I've always ignored it because I'm always really uncomfortably bothered by not wearing them. I think I have more vaginal discharge than your average woman, honestly...I'm like always wet down there but then when I need to be lubricated down there for sex, it doesn't work...it's very frustrating. Anyways, I've decided to stick it out and not wear them anymore unless I'm about to get my period.

I agree with the others that it does sound like you are not drinking enough fluids in a day. I've always heard dry hands are a sure sign of dehydration.
