If you have diabetes already I don't think you can just go off, you can try the XR or avandia or some other meds but you will need something.

Thanks for replying 123,

I will go back onto insulin (i went onto met coz i had a phase when i couldnt do the injectons due to sensitive skin.)

My diabetic consultant mentioned the 'pen' so i shall do the injections and probably go on the 'pen' next month when i see the consultant.

Try the XR. I started on regular Met and felt the same way you do. I finally switched to XR and I had no side effects. It was night and day difference on how much better I felt w/ XR. I also took advandia but had to stop taking it because my levels were just going from one extreme to the other on it. But if I were you I would try the XR. It took me about a month to finally decide to switch because I was afraid of the side effects getting worse. Boy did I feel stupid once I switched and saw what a difference it made.

If you are running a fever and getting dizzy spells along with the other side effects, call your dr immediately!

Otherwise, ride the wave! It lasted 6 months for me (and I lost most of my weight this way!!!)

Once I was switched to the glucaphage XR I felt tons better!(you take it all at once, and it is time released so easier on the old tummy!)

Also you have to keep up with your diet. I noticed any time I over ate, or ate the wrong things, I was in the bathroom immediately!
Good luck!
