Welcome to Soulcysters
Im glad that you found us....it is important to remember with PCOS that its a syndrome not a disease.....unlike a disease that has set symptons and signs and you have to have all of them to be DX-ed with...PCOS has several different symptoms and signs and you only have to have a few of them to be DX-ed with it...like for instance....
This is me: Overweight, excess hair growth in places I dont want it, and Im annovualtory (I dont O on my own)....but on the flip side I have normal periods on my own every month, I have gotten preggo on my own 3 times all to end in MC....all of my blood tests are normal IE Im not IR, I dont have anything wrong with my thyroid.....oh yeah and I have the cysts....BUT I was DX-ed with PCOS...
My guess would be that b/c you have had problems in the past staying preggo then needed meds to get preggo again (infert.) and that you have the other symptoms of hair growth and overweight and the appearance of the cysts that your DR thinks you have enough of the signs/symptoms to DX PCOS.
When it comes to the Met…I’m not IR but I take met….everyday….now that I’m not actively TTC I only take 500mg daily however when I was actively trying I took 1500mg with my 1st round of 50mg clomid (no success) and then 2000mg daily with my second round and that was the trick!!!
My DR told me that the best treatment for a women with PCO/s is met and birth control pills if they are not TTC…and met if they are.
For some reason met seems to level out your hormones on its own even if you aren’t IR….many of us take it who are not IR!!!!
When I first started my journey of TTC my DR ran all the blood tests to find that I was not ovulating on my own….my test can back it like .4 so nothing was happening….with taking Met for 6 months I went from that to an 8…..so it does somethingJ
Also, a lot of women with PCOS who have not had success with clomid alone take it with the met and that does the trick…
Sorry to write a book just giving you what I know…if you really aren’t comfortable with your DX seek a second opinion..it never hurts
