Question Do I have to take Met the rest of my life?

Can those of you who have been diagnosed a long time answer my questions or maybe your doctor has told you what to expect long term? Will you take Met your entire life or until menopause? If you lose a lot of weight, should you stop taking Met? Do most of us with PCOS just wind up diabetic so we have to continue on some kind of diabetes medicine anyways?

Years ago when I dieted to my ideal weight (Weight Watchers and faithfully working out--long before I was diagnosed), I still had some symptoms of insulin resistance (hungry all the time and hypoglycemic episodes), so I'm thinking I probably am stuck with Met for life. I love the fact that since taking Met I am rarely hungry, but I hate the loss of appetite. Does that make sense? I used to really enjoy food, and now I kind of dread eating because it is just not too appealing.

I was recently diagnosed with PCoS and started taking Met in November.

At the time, the Endo told me that I would be taking Met for the rest of my life.

Not something to look forward to... but that's what I was told.

I've never heard that PCOS can go into remission. I don't think it can. From my understanding of it, you always have PCOS, the symptoms can lessen but it's not something that just goes away. I do know that sometimes women who have irregular cycles will start to have regular clockwork cycles after they have had their first child. That's what happened with my mom. I don't know that she has PCOS, but I'm having all the same problems that she had when she was younger, plus back then dr's didn't know what PCOS was.

I was told with you have PSO it;s very hard to loose weight which we know but if we manage to get to our ideal weight that it could go. My gyno told me that as she USED to have PSO and was really big but now is slim just taking Clomid and has no problems. Don't know about Clomid myself as I just took it for two months and got pregnant after 5 years of trying!
