Ive been diagnosed with a lge cystic mass on my left ovary. The largest, size of grapefruit. I had Laprascopy last week, only to awake to be told they couldnt do anything as my Bowel has adheased around it n that Ive many adheasions. So now I face a more intensive OP soon. They shall remove my left ovary. My question is should I Tell them to remove my right one as well? Im 46yrs. Ive been sick for over 12yrs. I had hysterectomy almost 2 yrs ago n wished I demanded for my ovaries to go to. Ive had nothing but pain from them. Im worried if I keep my right ovary Ill be back in the same place with another cyst in the future n I just want to get on with my life. Ive been diagnosed with PCOS many years ago. What should I do?The Doc is on about hormones n menapause, bone strength etc he is encouraging me to keep it. I dont trust the medical advice as Ive suffered needlessly because of wrong doc advice in the past. Can anyone share their experience or knowledge with me?
Thanks so much, frustrated n sad..... Marzybar
I'd ask to have it all removed. Period. I'd take HRT, and be done with it all.
I'm only 37 (will be 38 this Saturday) and I'm looking at a hysterectomy in the coming time (more than likely).

What age do women in your family enter menopause? If you are only a year or so from the average age it would seem that you are probably close enough to menopause it woudln't matter much if you had both removed. I hope someone can tell of their experience.
I would say take them both out(If that doctor will).
My doctor said since I had so much going on(Endo,Andneo and severe adhesions) That it would be best to get it all out and done with because with the PCOS and Endo, I would be in the same boat a few years down the road.
So at age 35 I had a total hysterectomy with both ovaries removed.
I do feel so much better than before. I do not use HRT because it caused severe inflamation and muscle pain.
Even with this surgery, you could develope adhesions from this surgery. But it won't be as severe as from your bursting cysts and endo growing. I know plenty of women who had a hysterectomy who develope ovarian problems later that require more surgery.
So each woman must be aware of her own body and make the choices and desicions as each topic comes up that is best for her.

You will find more women in your shoes.
I wish you good health luck!

Thanks so very much for your help. Good News..I awoke to a phone call saying theres been a cancellation n can I come in for OP tomorrow? YES! So today I spent in Hosp. perioperation. Spoke to 4 Docs. blood test. I kept asking for ALL ovaries to be gone. I think I got through. I have to talk to the Oncologist before going in n tell him my need.I began to question my decision. Kept thinking of the forum n wondered if anyone had left any advice for me. My hub kept saying "your making the right choice" but I just so needed confirmation. Got home n read all the replies to my post. THANKYOU SO MUCH .. YES I shall go into surgery tomorrow with the confidence that I have made the right choice. Take the bloomin both of them out! My mum had a complete hyster by her choice against Docs advice in her early fifty.Shes never had any probs. So if she can I figured I should too, especially if its all unhealthy anyway. This forum has been a true Gods send. Im so glad I found it and posted. Blessings to you all. Happy alittle nervous, Marzybar
i will ask to take them boh as well..
i hope that everything will be fine soon

Hello everyone. I had my OP 10days ago. Wanted to tell you how I went with the removal of both my ovaries. Theyre gone now. I was told the surgery was deep n very thorough. My bowel is now functioning sooo much better n I shouldnt have any probs. All the bits n pieces they cut out has gone to path to make sure all is well.
My whole experience was not so bad. The pain was totally horrible upon my recovery but now its nearly all gone just alittle discomfort
as my wound is healing. The doc said Id have hot flushes 3hrs after surgery onwards but I havent had any probs. Felt nothing so far.If anyone has any helpful suggestions on anything to help me on this new road Im on..Im all ears. My job is still waiting for me n Im so desperate to get back to it. Its been hard not being able to do much.
My hub has been great nurse. Its so nice to have it all behind me now. Thanks everyone. Happy n resting, Maria

so glad it went well, maria. keep us informed as to your progress, particuarly with regard to the menopause. we're all threatened with such dire consequences if we get rid of our ovaries, it will be good to hear the actual experiences of a cyster. love and hugs.

Metformin destroyed my digestive system
Now on Avandamet, which is a wonder drug. Can't recommend it highly enough. Ask your doctor for it if you're worried about Metformin side effects.
I also have ME, hence the "tired" user name.
Contemplating hysterectomy but have to lose weight first.
