Question Do I really have PCOS?

Hi--

I was dxed with PCOS in 2002 after about a year of TTC. I had most of the classic symptoms...

- Excessive Hair
- Sudden uncontrollable weight gain when off of BCPs
- Acne
- Absent/Rare periods
- Annovulatory cycles

While being diagnosed I worked out frequently. I got pregnant in April 2003, and gave birth Jan 2004. After the birth, and on metaforn alone it seems my cycles have regulated. Here's the issue though, I am heavier than I have been my entire life, and I have stopped working out. I'm on a different "type" of met. I'm just wondering what this all means? Do I still have PCOS? The only thing that makes me think I do, is when I am off Met, I have uncontrollable appetite surges.

Thanks,

I though that PCOS never went away? But it can be controlled. when you are off of met does AF come and do you become annovulatory? Have you thought about working out again?? I would think you still have PCOS.

from all the reading i've done, which hasn't been too much since i just started researching PCOS, but from what i have found out so far, once you have PCOS you'll always have it, just a matter of figuring out how to control it. i was diagnosed a few years ago with it, but i was fortunate and got pregnant, BUT after having the baby i developed "Grave's Disease" which is Hyperthyroidism. i thought that the PCOS was gone, i dropped 100 pounds in less than a year, but after my treatment for Grave's, i put all the weight back on and some. and low and behold the doc told me i still have PCOS and it seems to be worse now. now that i'm hypo, it doesn't help. i'm currently trying to change my diet and will be starting on some meds to try to get it under control. unfortunately from what i've been told, learning how to control it is the best thing to do for it right now. i could be wrong so don't quote me on it, but that's what i've been told.
