I was just "diagnosed" today with pcos. I should not be surprised since I have a lot of the symptoms (acne, facial hair, irregular periods). I also am the opposite of a lot of the symptoms - my insulin levels and all blood work I’ve every had done has been perfect. I’m pretty thin, 5' 4'’ and 115 lbs. I’ve never had my hormones tested until today. I don’t yet know those results. If I have pcos will my hormones definitely show that? If my hormones are normal will that mean I don't have it? My doctor (an endocrinologist) said "this is what you have, and I expect your bloodwork to show that." I am 29 years old. I want to get pregnant soon. I’m worried I won’t be able to do that. I’m trying to keep a level head, but it’s not entirely easy at the moment. . .
It is possible to have PCOS with normal bloodwork. You might want to visit the "thin cysters" forum to see what their experiences have been with test results.

The first two ob/gyns I saw when I realized there was a problem (all the same symptoms you mention, and I'm also a thin cyster) said my bloodwork was totally normal. That wasn't wholly true: Taken alone, each of my levels looks fine. But my LH/FSH ratio was off, which my current doctor (an RE) said was a "red flag" for PCOS. So she took that, along with my symptoms and u/s of my (we found out) polycystic ovaries to diagnose me.
HTH. I know what you mean about it being hard to keep a level head. I've had my symptoms for over two years (since coming off BCPs in order to TTC) and my diagnosis for seven months and it still isn't easy. Lots and lots of women with PCOS are able to conceive with proper treatment. Try to take a deep breath...and remember that you have a wonderful resource here at SC!
I was tested for my hormone levels years after I was dxed with PCOS. They came back pretty normal, with no problems with my testosterone. I was retested last week and my testosterone levels are elevated enough for me to go on Spiro. As the PP said, normal lab results do happen with us cysters.
All of my blood work was normal except for the FSH I think....I was always small until recently I have had a large weight gain. Just be patient as hard as it is and see what the results say and hopefully it will tell you something. My ovaries are now about the size of a two fingers as opossed to being pea sized like they should be. the more cysts that develop the bigger they become so maybe if the blood comes back normal time will tell with the size of them. Just keep all of your old records so you keep track of it. Good luck...I hope you don't really have it. I am such a B word all of the time and I hate that!!
I diagnosed myself over 10 years ago after reading an article COSMOPOLITAN. Right after that I got uder the care of a reproductive endo. I have had a sonogram of my ovaries and have all of the same symptoms as you. perhaps unlike you my bloodwork has always come back normal to the point of driving me a little nutty because I feel the same as you do. If my hormones aren't out of whack then why can't I get PG lose the hair, acne & weight? So to answer question you proably have PCOS. I feel sorry to have to tell you that. I wish it were something else.
