Default Do non-IR thin cysters HAVE/NEED to diet?

Maybe this is a stupid question, but I am very confused myself. I just started on met, but do I have to alter my diet in some way even if I'm not looking to lose weight and I'm not IR?

I am really not a diet person. I am vegetarian and eat fairly healthy, but if someone tells me "you can't have ___" I get weird and crave it and eat too much of it!

I am in my first week of met and have had a lot of GI upset, but I'm not sure if that's normal or because I'm not on a low carb diet of some sort.

My PCOS has been diagnosed primarily because of the LH:FSH ratio. I have regular cycles.

Any thoughts are appreciated!

Hey bloodflowergirl,
My endocrinologist told me: "other than going on the pill there is nothing else you can do." (Of course there are many other things you can do (alt. remedies)... but she emphasized that I did not need to diet or try low carbing). If you are already thin there is no need to diet.... just exercise and try to eat as healthfully as you can.

My naturopath says diet is very important - you can help your body a lot by regulating your blood sugar and insulin through diet. It's pretty basic - no refined carbohydrates (no sugar, no white flour, no white rice) and more frequent smaller meals. It's not about weight loss - it's about helping your body.

I guess what I am wondering is do NON-IR cysters need to work at managing their blood sugar and insulin levels? Is that an issue for all cysters regardless of whether or not they have IR?

I think that all cysters are IR to some extent, even if conventional tests don't show it. But that's just what I think.
