Default Do not take Vitex if pregnant?

I had planned taking Vitex this cycle after reading a lot of positive things about it, especially here on SC, but on the box it says "do not take if pregnant". So, what to do? Am I supposed to take it just until I get a BFP, or should I stop sooner?

For those with recurrent m/c they say to keep taking through the first trimester because stopping can decrease progesterone levels.

Might be a good idea to work with a naturopath, or doc who believes in alternative medicine rather than doing on your own though...

I too have heard that you should continue taking it if pregnant if you were already taking it because of progesterone production. I think you would want to take it through the first trimester. The reason they don't want to you to take it if pregnant is for people who might start after and then miss pills because the drop in progesterone can actually induce miscarriage. Its kinda the same ideas as those who use Progesterone creams.

I would definitively look into it more. Its one of those things you don't want to screw up.

I took vitex along with Met when I got pg with my 2nd daughter who is now 7 yo. I stopped taking the vitex right after the bfp but stayed on the Met for a few weeks. I also didn't have any problems with mc - just problems with o'ing so it might be different for that. GL

I'm currently taking Femaprin (Vitex) and am 9 weeks PG. I'm also on 1/2 my dose of metformin (2000mg-1000mg). I'm planning on weening off week 12 :-) So far, so good. Saw little bean and a HB at 6w3d :-D
