Default do these doses sound right?

Hello girls...I'm trying to grow my head hair back and treat my PCOS the natural way. The only medication I am currently taking is my bcp. I used to take Proscar and spiro and androcur, etc...but I wasn't seeing great results. The spiro helped my facial/body hair but did nothing for the head hair.....so, I perused the boards and thought I'd give the following a try...I just don't know if i'm taking the right amount of the vitamins I've chosen:

Biotin 5000mcg (Nature's Bounty)
Omega 3.6.9 Fish/Flax/Borage 1200mg of each (Nature's Bounty)
Cinnamon 1000 mg (Nature's Bounty)
Evening Primrose Oil - 1500mg (Whole Foods Brand)
B Complex (Nature Made)
Saw Palmetto - standardized extract extra strength (Nature's Bounty)
A high potency multivitamin and multimineral from Shaklee

Does this sound like a good combo or are the amounts that I've mentioned good enough to show results? I've never taken vitamins before (other than flintstones when i was a kid) so this is all new to me!!

Thanks
Jaime

Default Hi

have you gone to an herbalist or naturopath? I know saw palmetto is good for thinning hair and a good anti androgen and the other supplements you are taking sound really good, especially the fish/flax combo. How long have you been on the supplements? If you have not been to an herbalist I would suggest going. I am going Friday to an herbalist and he gave me a reasonable price of $25 for the consultaion. Some Herbalists and naturopaths do charge alot but if you look around you can probably find one for a decent price and it's worth it because he/she will help you find what is right for your body and situation. Hope this helped
Best wishes
Christina

I agree with Christina, you may want to consult with a natural practitioner, or at the very least take a nutrient symptomology assessment so you can get some clarity on the balance/imbalance that may be going on in your body.

Another supplement you might want to research is N-Acetyl Cysteine. Recently NAC as its called has been shown to be sucessful as an adjunct to traditional medical care and the use of Clomid. Also, vitamin D is a great supplement for managing insulin balance, and other experts suggest that Omega oils be taken with vitamin d for best absorption. Seeing a practitioner can help you find a combination that will help you.

If a practitioner is out of the question, you can buy the book "Listen to your Body," by David Rowland. I use his professional software, but his book is available on Amazon...

Good luck.

Cassy

Thanks for the advice, girls. I really appreciate it. I've been taking the supplements for about three weeks now. I do see a big difference in my skin -my face looks alot smoother and more "glowy"....the hair I won't be able to tell for a while...that's the part that sucks...the waiting to see if what you're doing is paying off. I did have breakthrough bleeding during my active bcp which has never happened to me in the 3 years I"ve been taking them. I don't know what that means, but I will see what happens after a get my period while on the placebos...if I don't stop spotting after that then I'm definitely making an appointment with a doc. I do think the shedding has slowed...it definitely still comes out in the shower, but not AS bad as it was...so i'm just really crossing my fingers. I will look into a seeing a professional. I can only learn so much online!!

Thanks,
J
