My Mood: | Goodness. All this info makes me want to throw out the bagelfuls I just bought. Sometimes, I get soo hungry, and the only thing that will satisfy if to eat a hearty portion of carbs. I try to do wheat, but I read on a GI diet thing that wheat/white almost has the same number. I don't even know how to cut down on carbs... I mean, what can you even eat?? I need to read up on this, but I feel like I sacrifice soo much TTC, that I would hate to have to give up my yummy sweet snacks and bread. I am about to be in the 2WW, so this thread motivates me to eat as well as I can, for at least the next 2 weeks... every bit helps. Thanks ladies!!

My Mood: | Actually, though, I only eat french fries occassionally, because I notice when I do, I tend to start gaining weight. Don't know if this is the carb thing or because they are fried in grease ha ha.

| I'm interested in this too - I'm only slightly overweight (152lb and about 5'5) - and the main symptom I have with PCOS is irregular/erratic periods. I've always eaten fairly healthily, though my alcohol consumption has been on the high side at times. Recently, I've cut out alcohol, caffeine and am trying to stick fairly closely to low-GI type eating. I've been doing this for about 3 weeks now (except for 1 weekend off) and am feeling good - have possibly lost a few pounds, though haven't weighed myself - I feel my clothes are a little looser. Still no sign of AF, though! Just started adding exercise to the mix this weekend. I've been charting since New Year and haven't seen any signs of ovulation yet. I've been taking Vitex for about 4 weeks too. I'd like to see if I can balance things out without medication, just a personal preference!
It would be good to hear from anyone else who wasn't particularly overweight to start with but felt a difference after changing the way they ate???
Thanks,
Lil. |

| Just thought I'd add to this thread...
I'm ttc and am on clomid. I was on 100mg and ovulated..yay! I was eating low GI/low carb, walking twice a day for 25 mins each time and not stressed. I had a perfect cycle but didn't get a BFP. Next cycle I was depressed, stressed, didn't watch what I ate and ate really high carb and stopped exercising. It pushed my ovulation back by 8 days, which really made it a bit late to conceive. Even my Dr asked if I'd changed the amount of exercise I was doing because it affects ovulation. This cycle I'm back on the wagon. Low carb really helps.

| I'm doing low glycemic index rather than low carb. It may be a bit more realistic to follow for some of us.

| The Patrick Holford low GL diet is great, you can buy the books in any good bookshop or on the web. The Insulin Factor is also a great book, recommended to me by my nutritionist. I have been following the diet quite stictly for a a couple of months and now have regular periods (I haven't had regular periods for over 10 years!) and no more cystic acne, although my hair is still thinning. I'm not overweight and never have been. I too used to have horrible sugar cravings after lunch and now they aren't as bad. My energy levels are also better. |

| I used to think that I didn't have to diet, but now that I am starting to have more symptoms and a constant bloated belly I am sure that I need to cut back on carbs and sugar. I think that I eat healthy, but there are those days where it can get outta control. We just moved from Texas to Virginia in the fall of 2007 and it was my first real winter, so comfort food was a necessity. I am going to start a low-carb diet with one of the girls in my office on Monday, I am off ALL meds and going to try this for a month to see what happens. |
