Do you have a family member who was adopted you want to meet?
I just thought it would be interesting to start a thread where perhaps we could talk about how adoption has effected us in different ways.
I have an older sister named Amy. She is in her mid to late 30's. From what I understand our dad signed over parental rights to her stepdad and he adopted her. Her adopted dad is originally from somewhere in the middle east and I've been told they moved either back to his home country or Florida.
Many times I wonder if we look alike, what she is doing, does she know about me and our younger half-sister? Is she safe? Does she suffer from the same health problems I do and does she have the medical attention she needs?
Both my younger sister and I would love to find Amy. We feel robbed that all the parents involved couldn't find a way to be mature enough to let the siblings stay together.
So, what about you? If given the opportunity, is there someone you would like to find?
NOTE: Regardless of the relationship you have with the adopted person (or if you were adopted), all opinions and view points are welcomed. Let's keep this a friendly thread please.

I'm gonna stop looking back and starting moving on
And learn how to face my fears
Love with all of my heart, make my mark
I wanna leave something here
Go out on a ledge, without any net
That's what I'm gonna be about
Yeah, I wanna be running

I have a 16yo nephew that I would like to meet someday. I am not sure how my sister feels about the adoption anymore, we don't talk about it. Only a few more years until he "might" start looking.
My dh has some siblings that are much older than him, one of which he met when he was 11. He would like to find them but hasn't had any luck so far. (they weren't adopted though)

Tina, is there any way you can find your sister? Do you know any of the names of the parents? How was she adopted though a lawyer?
My MIL was adopted as a baby and about 3 or 4years ago found her older brother.
I love having a new Uncle (even though marriage!!)
Good luck to you!

I don't have her adopted last name or even DOB. When we get our adoption finalized, I plan on calling my uncle and saying, "OK, tell me everything you know about Amy". I'm hoping he will be able to provide enough info where I can start looking for her.

I would love to see my niece Paige again. She was put up for adoption in 2000 since both her bio-parents are worthless. She was about 8 yrs old when this great family adopted her. You can tell she's totally adored by them. They send pictures of her to my dad,and she does get to call anytime she wants and even see my dad for a week in the summer.
I cant help but miss her terribly even tho' I know she is better off with her adoptive parents than staying with her whacked out mom & dad. Unfortunately she only has contact with my dad as the adoptive parents dont want to chance her bio-dad trying to take her back. I cant blame them but part of me wants to see her so badly in person. I cant wait until she's 18 yrs old. She still asks about all us ( me and my other nieces) so I hope she will try to find us then.

Even though my youngest sister wasn't adopted, we didn't meet until I was an adult. Ten years later and we are constantly in contact. It's so amazing getting to meet someone you are related to, especially a sibling. We look alike, act alike, write alike, etc. We even have school pictures with the same background, same hairstyle, same style dress just a different color.
I recently watched the show about Daryl from Run DMC on his journey to find his birth mother. If you get a chance to watch it, it's worth your time. I think it was on VH1.

I have a brother who turned 21 in November (I think) this year. I'm very curious about him. I sent a letter to the agency so if he ever looked for his family he wouldn't have any trouble. I guess he's not going to be looking, though.
Laura...maybe he's in college and is wanting to get his education completed first. I pray he will search you out one day.

I have a brother and sister that are in their 20s which I would love to find, I think they were adopted together, so atleast they have each other, I have their ss#s but I am sure they were changed after adoption. I have tried searching, but I am sure their names are changed too.
good luck in searching for your sister.

I have an older sister that my Mom gave up for adoption in August of 1980, when my mom was 19 and her little girl was just 3 months old.
My mom realized that she was just oo young to take care of her baby on her own with no family around. She told my brother and I on what would have been her first baby girl's 20th birthday. May 9th, 2000. One year later she found us, then about 6-8 months after that it was confirmed that she was indeed the little girl that my mm gave up for adoption all those years ago.
She is married now, her husband ironically was adopted as well. They have 3 boys, my nephews. I try and keep in touch as much as possible and we send birthday cards and such every year.
At first, when my mom told me, I was in a state of shock, but then I was fascinated that I had another older sister out there and I couldn't wait to meet her! We still haven't met in person yet after 4-5 years of correspondence and she doesn't live too far away either, about 6 hours or so.
I am hoping to make a trip down there sometime this year.
Corrie - What a great story! Thank you for sharing.
