I'm not so sure. I said more than because I think I have some pretty big hangups! But I don't know really, because I still get through life ok in my own blundering way - where others don't seem to!
I said the same. I think I have about the same as most people on any given day. (theres always someone worse off then you and someone much better off then you).
For me its the way I deal (or not deal) with my issues. That they seem overwhelming, hangups about myself, lack of faith in myself & the world, loss of hope, that I could of prevented the issues. All which make it difficult for me to deal with the issues. Its a vicious circle!
The question is a little too general. What are issues to some are not for others.
I think the Serenity Prayer is a good thing to keep in mind. There are many things we just cannot control, like the way the person in front of you is driving, so we shouldn't make an issue out of them.
If you have a loving spouse as opposed to not having a spouse like myself, I would think you should have less issues, but apparently I may be wrong on that assumption. I don't have issues with self esteem and I don't allow thoughts of negativity to enter my mind. Occasionally, I do get a little miffed that I have to do everything myself.
I've learned over the years that the only person who is going to take care of me is me. I'm no longer concerned about what other people are going to think or say about what I do.
My main issue is having aging parents, with my dad having Parkinsons. Other "issues" are really quite insignificant in comparison to that.
I voted yes, not only because I feel my entire life has been a big issue, but I have had numerous people tell me that they couldnt live my life and all I have dealt with..mine go far beyond PCOS, but then again there are always people out there that have it worst then me and you.
This is an interesting thread. Believe it or not, I put "Less than most people". But, I would NOT have answered that when I was younger. I think that as I near the half a century mark, some things just don't bother me anymore. There is a sort of peace that comes with growing older.

It does! There's a psychologist at Berkeley and one at Stanford who study this exact effect. I saw them both give talks at a conference this summer. Apparently as you age, you are affected less by negative events (though as you age enough more negative events, like friends dying, happen to you). You also respond more to positive ad images and less to negative ones (for anyone in marketing...).
I put less also because I hate having issues and work hard on trying to avoid them through serious risk aversion (yay emergency savings!) and cognitive training (mostly deep breathing and cognitive restructuring).
I guessed "more than most". I often joke about having more issues than National Geographic! The more I thought on it though, the more I wondered if that's exactly true. Yes, I have many issues. Fear of abandonment, self-esteem issues, and a myriad of issues related to my past traumas, but I'm working very, very hard at solving them once and for all. Many people I bump into in everyday life seem so very issue-wracked and, MUCH worse in my mind, expect the rest of the world to deal with their issues instead of dealing with them themselves. Oh that's a pet peeve! So really, that "more than most" is just a true guess!

I am not really sure how many issues everybody else has. I put more than most. When I started therapy (about a month ago), my therapist asked about what had been going on in my life lately. When I told her, she said that almost anybody would be depressed and anxious if they had to deal with the last three or four years of my life.

Nicole, thanks for posting about that study. I found it interesting and I do agree with the findings about how we deal with things as we age. I liked hearing about how you deal with issues in your life, too. No doubt about it, life does present some challenges to us all at any age!
