I just ran across an interesting article regarding a growing trend where women have their labia minora reduced through cosmetic surgery. Labia minora are the inner lips on a woman's vagina. Anyway, apparently some women find that if their inner lips stick out longer than their outer lips, they feel "abnormal." According to doctors, however, long labia minora is quite common.
Anyway, as I read the article, they explained how enlarged labia minora may actually be the result of excess male hormones in your body, since the labia minora and clitoral hood are actually the female counterpart to a scrotum. That got me thinking about women with PCOS who have excess male hormones in their system, and I am wondering if enlarged labia minora is common with women who have PCOS?
I am wondering this because I have large labia minora myself. I never thought it was an abnormality that required surgery to remove, however. I just thought that women's parts varied a bit. Just like some women have larger breasts than others, I figured some have larger lips. My sexual partners have never seemed to be bothered by them, either. However, this article I read made it seem like the women who had this surgery were terribly embarrassed by their long inner lips...so much so that they were afraid to have sex. Hmmmmmmmmm....
So, how many women out there with PCOS have large inner lips? I'm curious now.
OMG!!! I have this too! I knew people had it, but I didn't know it was linked to high testosterone levels!! Yeah, if it was just cosmetic, I wouldn't care, but it hangs out, and it hurts if I have an itch or something, cause then I scratch that, and it gets pulled a lot, and it's a pain. I keep trying to tuck it back in there, but it's hard. And here's the interesting part... it's only like that on one side... sounds hormone related to me!
THANK YOU for making that post! My LMhave always been longer than myt outer lips and I've always felt kinda freaking about it. I mean, they are huge and sometimes get kinda twisted and hurt. I honestly thought I was a freak.
I read an article a LONG time ago about women having that kind of surgery, but it didn't say anything about higher testosterone levels. Hmmm.
I'm sure it's too late now for them to shrink, huh? Oh well, wishful thinking. No way would I have surgery to fix it. I've lived with it this long! *L*

I hate it. I have one side that i longer and I have to tuck it up. It gets caught and it hurts. As far as a partner, I have always been self-coucios about it (what is on more thing) but no one ever said anything about it.
Mine are normal:o , but my partner (she doesn't have PCOS) are longer. I am a midwife, so I have seen Labia Minora in all shapes, sizes and colours, and the fact that so many of them belong to women with no infertility problems make me think that size is more to do with boddies than horemones. I must be odd, as I sometimes wish mine weren't so tiny:o

Mine are kinda big too and I always thought it was freaky looking but the only comparison I have is women in porno so I don't know what the majority of the population looks like. I've often wondered though if I'm a freak or just of the percentage of the population that has bigger ones.
my labia minora are tiny, almost not there and I have high testosterone so I think it,s just one of those things like large or small breasts. I do have very big outer lips though which annoy me as it means that everything is very enclosed but I think thats partly due to my weight. We're never happy with our bodies though are we?!!!
I thought I was the only freak around. I stayed away from sex for many years (I guess when you're a teen that's not too bad) because of it. I was convinced I was abnormal and then I was told that I wasn't. I do remember hearing about the surgery and I thought...anything that would take away any feeling, since they would be smaller, isn't a good thing....Hey you WANT all they feeling you can get int hat area, ya know
thanks...

I took have one side longer than the other, but I've never had it get caught on anything or be in pain from it. I've never minded that its been long, but its sometimes annoyed me that they're uneven!

Yep! I do too, I'm very self conscious about it, when i had my first pap smear i freaked out and asked the doctor if i was normal I don't like it, but i don't think I'd ever go so far as surgery!
It does suck though, never see any women in the pornos like mine O.o, I don't see how men would really care though, But then again, i am only 18... Alot of immature young men my age who pick little things like that!
