Default Do you think i should be on a higher dose?

Hi all, I have been on 1000mg met for about a month now. I am V.overweight and havent had AF for about 6 years! I think the docs are hoping to give it a kickstart with the met, but i havent really felt any different... Havent lost any weight (in fact i may have put some on!), no sign of AF or ovulation. Do you think i should be on a higher dose? Or should i try something different? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I was on 1000mg for 2 1/2 months...3 days after I started taking 1500mg I got my first natural period!!

Talk to your doctor and see what they say! Good luck!

Yes, I think Met can help a lot of pcosers to ovulate, it helped me. I think you are right to question your dose, as there are studies that indicate 1500 mg being the minimum effective dosage. You could probably find them if you do a search on this site or google, print them off and take them to your doctor. Don't give up on the Met this early in the game, you haven't been on enough for long enough to have given it a real chance to work. As far as losing weight goes, that isn't the case or even a 'promise' of Met, but what most women will find is that they have an easier time losing a greater average of weight while exercising and eating right while on Metformin, then off of it.
