I was reading about different salad dressing recipes on a WW message board...I have a problem with dressing because I love the full fat kind so much...I would eat salad all day if I could have bacon, cheese and full fat dressing on it!
Anyway....someone said that they take fat free plain yogurt and mix it with the hidden valley ranch packet powdered dressing...
I am having trouble deciding if this would be gross or not. I'm thinking you would get the thickness of the regular ranch and the flavor without the extra fat and calories.
Anyone tried it? They said it's good on baked potatos too.
Also, anyone have other dressing ideas to share or good lower fat brands?

it sounds like it would be good, there's so much flavor in the ranch packets!

oh wow, that sweet mustard sounds good! It would be like barely any points too!
See, I never think of things like that to do! I really want to be more creative!
I've also heard of people taking regular full fat ranch and thinning it alittle with vinegar...You use alot less and still get the taste of the full fat version.
I was thinking that the sour cream and ranch packet would be good! I bet you could thin that out with vinegar too to make it smoother and maybe add one or two packets of splenda. I bet that would be really good as a dip for veggies! I think I am going to experiement with a few things this weekend.

The yogurt/hidden valley ranch thing sounds really yummy! I'm definitely going to try that! Also, I use the HVR dip mix with fat free sour cream all the time for veggies. It's great. It's really thick though, so if you would want to use that for dressing, you'd have to thin it out a bit. As far as other dressings, I like "Ken's Steakhouse" brands Lite dressing...they have a raspberry vinaigrette dressing that is to die for! I love french dressing too, and I found (I can't remember what brand...Kraft maybe?) Fat free Western dressing gives that sweet/tangy flavor and it's great on taco salads!

Here are 2 different WW recipes for Ranch Dressings or Ranch Dips.
1/2 of a 1oz. packet of Hidden Valley Ranch Original Salad Dressing Mix (Dry Mix)
1 tb. vinegar
1/2 cup of water
2tb fat free cream cheese
1/4 tsp garlic salt or 1/8 tsp garlic powder
Put all ingredients into a electric blender and blend on high speed until very very smooth. Serve immediently or let sit for 10 minutes to thicken.
1 cup of dressing/dip 2pts per cup.
Or you can try this other recipe
1 c. light Helman's Mayo
1 c. buttermilk
1/2 tbsp. onion salt
1/2 tbsp. garlic powder
1/2 c. fresh parsley minced
pepper to taste
Mix all ingredients together. Will be thick. 2 tbsp. dressing equals 1pt.
I use this home made salad dressing for Greek Salad; (It's really good!)
Olive Oil (2 tbsp)
Lemon (1)
Garlic (as much as you want)
pinch of oregono
honey (to taste till sweet enough) I usally only use 1 tsp OR a dip that's really good for veggies:
1 cup light sour cream
3/4 cup light mayo
1tsp beaumonde
1 tbsp dill mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....i want some right now!
