Note:I'm not trying conceive and I have completed my family.
I'm just wondering what everyone's experiences have been with the different doctors.

I have a much different opinion, but I really don't think it matters.
I think it all depends on how well your doctor knows PCOS and whether they're able to treat you properly. Currently I see an OB/GYN who personally specializes in PCOS, after some really nasty RE's.
With that said, an RE might be more inclined to know PCOS better than a regular endo.

I finally had success with an RE even though I am not trying to concieve. My GP and OBGYN were not much help at all, I'm sure some are but I guess it depends on how well the individual practitioner is educated about pcos.
See I ask because I originally was seeing an ob/gyn for it...Granted I love him to death, but really he isn't that up and up on PCOS. So I switched to a regular endo doctor. She was helping a little bit, but the dietitan at that place wasn't much help and really just felt like I was wasting her time or something. So now I'm switching to an RE. I called yesterday to make sure that he sees patients that are not conceiving and they said he does see them. I have my appointment in October so I'm hoping that maybe their office will be of more helpful. There is nothing I cant stand more than going into a doctors office and totally feeling like they think I'm wasting their time with my PCOS.

I am seeing a RE now, and ironically, he seems to be the only one who's not concerned about whether or not I am TTC. My experiences until now have been;
GPs- 2, one told me my symptoms were "unfortunate", and told me nothing could be done about it anyway, and why would it even matter if I weren't TTC, the other told me that my symptoms were all in my head and that I had a distorted body image. Seriously! After reading about other's experience on this board, I can kind of see that I may not be as severely affected as some others, but I most definately have obvious physical symptoms (excess hair growth, mid-section weight gain, no periods) Both suggested that I take BCPs so that I could have a period. That's really the least of my concerns. If there is any bonus (IMO) to pcos, it's not having to deal with the whole period issue as much.
Gyno's- only concerned about my ability to get pregnant, prescribed more bcp's
I haven't seen a regular endo, but I'm happy with the RE. He seems to take my concerns seriously, and is well versed in PCOS. For the first time after asking for 10 years, I've finally got some meds (in addition to the BCP) to help manage all the issues that go along with this. I haven't been on them really long enough to see a difference yet, but I'm optimistic, and thankful to have found someone who seems concerned about it.
