Arrow Doctor in Boston, MA area

Hello all,
My name is Lindsay, and I'm a 21 year old student with PCOS. I've usually gotten my bloodwork and check-ups done when I return home during breaks, but I think I need to find a doctor locally. I suspect that my meds need to be altered, but I an uncomfortable with selecting a doctor at random. Does anyone know of a good female specialist that is easily accessible by public transportation? (I don't have a car; driving in Boston might be just as scary as selecting a random doctor for PCOS treatment!) Thank you for the help

Lindsay

Hi Lindsay,

I too am in Boston and looking for a new doctor in this area. I noticed that Massachusetts was missing from the physician directory on this website. I think it must be an error. I guess I'll try it on a different computer and maybe it will work. But actually I think I remeber having this problem a while back. Plus I know there are definately lots of doctors in this area, and I KNOW some of them handle PCOS. Ever see that film called "Scrambled?" Its about PCOS, and it features a Boston doctor I think. We have it at my work so maybe I will watch it again and try to get the name. SO I will be looking for a local doctor and if I find anything I'll tell you. And if you find someone I'd appreciate if you could tell me. In the meantime email me if you'd like to talk to another Beantown cyster. nicolekathleen1976@yahoo.com

I'm sort of in the same situation, except that I don't have much choice in what doctor I get because I'm on student health (just switched from MIT medical to Harvard medical). Right before I left MIT, the gynecologist there said her favorite fertility clinic was Lexington and her second favorite is Brigham and Women's. She said to avoid Boston IVF. Then the GP I just saw at Harvard said that her favorite is Brigham and Womens and she's heard good things about Lexington but Harvard BC/BS won't pay for them because most of the Harvard folks have connections with Brigham and Womens. She also said to stay away from Boston IVF. Lexington isn't accessible via public transportation, but Brigham and Womens is.

I know that's just information on fertility treatment, but maybe it will be some help? Since I'm on student health care things are moving very slowly and I can't see a gynecologist until October. The GP said I would probably be referred to B+W then, so in a month I may have some experience with private doctors.
