Default Doctor in Dublin?

I have just been told by my gynae that I am not ovulating. When I asked what I should do about this she was really unhelpful and just shrugged at me. He attitude has really caused me to lose confidence in her and I would like to get a second opinion, hopefully from someone who is responsive and has some experience of dealing with this and PCOS (which I think that I might have but have not had confirmed).

Can anyone recommend an endocrinologist that I could see? I am due to see my GP and if I ask for a referral he will give me on but I don't know where to turn and who to trust.

Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately Porthos, that seems to be the way for a lot of docs in this country : / ... Mine told me the only treatment was the pill! But, i know there are a few good ones around. There was a PCOS only doc in dublin, but they shut down. Theres a thread on the board of just Irish cysters and some are from dublin if you'd like to get in touch with them. im no good at the minute as Im down in Cork lol

I have a gynae in the coome hospital, best doctor i've ever had! he has a lot of experience with pcos, and he was so helpful, my first appointment, he put me on met 1500mg.. helped me so much, i'm sure he'd be great for you!

pretty sure he has a long waiting list though, and works really strange hours which is annoying, but hopefully it might be of some help

his name is Dr. Michael o' connor, the phone number for his office is 014085479

i really hope till can be of some help!!

I know exactly what you're going through!! I'm not from Ireland so I was so confused with the health system but I knew I had PCOS. My GP was such a jerk and just assumed that because I'm heavy that I eat takeaways everynight and in fact I have a nutritionist.

I ended up going private and it cost me €400 all together including GP visits. I went to Ultrasound.ie and got an appointment a couple days later for my scan (they're open 7 days a week) and you can go to either Blackrock or the Slievemore clinic in D4. Then I made an appointment with a gyno in Dun Laoghaire and she was super super nice and knew alot about PCOS as well. Her website is womenshealthclinic.ie and she has late night appointments if you work.

I'm now on Metformin and am on my way back to being 'normal' again. Although I cant say I miss the periods!! Good luck and I hope this helps.

Hi Porthos,
I'm from dublin as well. I have a fantastic endo in Tallaght Hospital called Dr.Gibney. He's really nice and very proffesional, I was really glad to find him. He set me up with a clinical trail for PCOS as well in the diabetes clinic in tallaght hospital where they tested my likely hood to develop PCOS IR related complications for free, which was great.

I see him privately but if you were looking for a cheaper option he's involved in a clinic for PCOS with a gyno as well.

Hope this helps.
